We recently connected with Jonni Parsons and have shared our conversation below.
Jonni, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
Getting that first client was so fun. Sunday Morning Marketing was just an idea back then, but I was determined to prove it could work. So, I took a chance and offered my services to someone for free. I worked hard for a month, burning the midnight oil in my college dorm room.
My goal was simple: get results and earn a testimonial. When I finally got that testimonial, it felt like winning the lottery. It showed that my approach actually worked.
Then, armed with that testimonial, I took on my next client for just $20. I laugh about that now. It wasn’t much, but it felt amazing to earn something tangible for my work.
From there, things started to snowball. Happy clients told their friends, who told their friends, and suddenly, Sunday Morning Marketing was gaining traction.
Today, we’re thriving. What started with a free trial and a $20 client has grown into a business where we charge thousands for our services.
That first dollar wasn’t just about money. It was about proving myself and turning my dreams into reality. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come from those humble beginnings.

Jonni, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
To be honest, I wasn’t always a shining star academically. I was more of a solid C-student, navigating through a lot of high schools until I finally landed in college. Which is a miracle because I didn’t even bother with my SATs! But against the odds, I found myself in college, still unsure of what path to take. Major: undecided.
Then, God intervened when a marketing job opportunity presented itself. I decided to give it a shot, and I fell head over heels for it! It was like discovering a whole new world of excitement and creativity.
Soon after, I landed an internship with Nike Sports Camp, and that’s when digital marketing stole my heart. It became more than just a passion; it became my major focus in college. I immersed myself in every aspect of it, soaking up knowledge like a sponge.
I started applying everything I learned to build my own online following. And slowly, it began to work. Fast forward, and I’m proudly sitting at 600k followers.
But what truly lights my fire is helping others achieve similar success. I do this day in and day out for my clients, utilizing my expertise to catapult them to new heights. I’ve even had the pleasure of taking clients to the coveted 1 million followers mark.
It’s not about the grades you make; it’s about the hands you shake. Networking has been key to my journey. I believe in the power of connections and building meaningful relationships. And that’s what I want potential clients to know about me and Sunday Morning Marketing. We’re not just about numbers; we’re about genuine connections and transformative results.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I got into social media because I wanted to connect with people and share what I love. First, I figured out what I wanted to focus on and started making content about it.
I found that being consistent really helped. I made sure to post regularly and talk to my followers like real people. Whether it was answering comments, asking questions, or showing them what I was up to, I kept the conversation going.
The most important thing was being myself. People can tell when you’re not being genuine, so I always made sure to keep it real.
For anyone just starting out, here’s what I’d say:
1. Figure out what makes you unique and focus on that.
2. Keep posting regularly and chatting with your followers.
3. Look for chances to team up with others in your field.
4. Use hashtags to get more eyes on your posts.
5. And always stay true to who you are. People like authenticity.
Building up your social media presence takes time, but if you stick with it and stay true to yourself, you’ll get there.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word-of-mouth referrals and building strong relationships with my existing clients. When my current clients are happy with the results I deliver, they’re more likely to recommend me to others in their network. Providing exceptional service and consistently delivering results has helped me retain clients over the long term, leading to repeat business and referrals. Do things with integrity and you’ll always come out on top.
