We were lucky to catch up with Jones Monroe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jones , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on has been my latest Television and Film project, “The Rise”. I believe firmly in living my life by faith. Every milestone or meaningful opportunity that has happened to me has been ordained. “The Rise” originated from one of my mentors Mr. White. Through speaking with him he told me I had such an interesting life and needed to document it. My life to me seems normal but outside of the entertainment industry it’s not. I go to the Grammys every year and fly all over the country performing for myself and on behalf of my agency. “The Rise” is about new school artist development meets old school artist development. I feel blessed to document Motown legends, industry executives, multi platinum award winning artists and most importantly the heart behind it all.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Jones Monroe and I’m an international recording and performing artist. I own one of the leading artist development companies, Pogue Entertainment Group. I formerly was an opera singer; through time transitioned into an industry coach to talent developer and finally now I’m enjoying traveling performing my upcoming albums while filming my reality tv show.
As an artist my influencers are Aretha Franklin, James Brown, OutKast, and Ray Charles. I have worked with so many talented producers, songwriters and engineers on my current project. Special thanks to Mr. Lee, Bslade, Dree Scott, Chris Godbey, and Nash Overstreet. My upcoming single is being released and heavily promoted In the spring of 2023. Follow me for specific dates and show announcements. The audience and fans should expect a live band show inspired by little Richard, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin.
Pogue Entertainment Group has currently been cast to develop artists in conjunction with “The Rise” television show. I’m CEO and Founder since 2007 and we specialize in artist development. Developmental services for talent include voice, songwriting, instrument session and music theory and production. We offer and outsource gigs, live shows, and songwriting sessions. Industry services include platform development, brand and image consulting, industry team building, and label showcases.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I am driven by love. This is why my handle is @lovejonesmonroe. I believe we all need more of it and I give it through my music and creativity.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Omg! I had to learn to deal with perfectionism. I am still dealing with it. I care so much but, I’ve had to learn when to let go. I can relate to many artists who struggle with this and mental health. I lam thankful I learned and am still learning to live in the moment.
