We recently connected with Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Jones, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
By far, the most meaningful project I’ve worked on was the curation of a Soul/R&B Concert titled “King of Hearts”. The reason is was so meaningful is because it was the first time I bet everything on myself while aiming to raise money for charity. It also was a very important litmus test on the believability of my vision and who was in support of it. I learned a great deal about event curation, people, and mostly myself with this experience.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey there, I’m Jones—a Soul/R&B singer here to make you feel something. My music is all about connection, emotion, and those moments that make you close your eyes and say, “This song gets me.” I grew up surrounded by the sounds of legends—Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Johnnie Taylor, etc—and their ability to move people inspired me to find my own voice. Now, I’m bringing that same energy with a modern twist to the music scene.
How did I get here? Passion and a whole lot of grit. From pouring my heart out at open mic nights to sharing raw, unpolished demos online, I’ve been building my path one note at a time. Today, my music is a blend of soul-drenched vocals and R&B grooves that hit you right in the feels. Whether I’m singing about love, heartbreak, or personal growth, my songs are real, raw, and unapologetically me.
What makes me different? I don’t just make music—I tell stories. My songs are born from my own experiences or from the experiences of loved ones. I don’t hold back. I believe music should make you feel seen, understood, and inspired. That’s what sets me apart: authenticity. It’s not about following trends—it’s about creating art that stands the test of time.
One of my proudest moments so far? Putting together a large scale concert that not only had 200 people come on a Sunday night, but it also created the opportunity for me to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity. The response has been incredible—people are calling and asking about the next event with great anticipation! This event was a reflection of my journey, my sound, and my soul, and I couldn’t be more proud to share it with the world. Hearing how my songs resonate with listeners—whether it’s helping them heal, vibe, or just escape for a moment—is everything to me.
For those just discovering me, here’s what I want you to know: My music is YOUR music. It’s made to be your passenger on your late-night drives, your good cries, your celebrations, and everything in between. I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to feel, to grow, and to keep moving forward.
So, if you’re ready for music that speaks to your soul and grooves that make your heart beat a little faster, welcome to my world. Let’s make this journey unforgettable together!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that life is not a constant competition. For the longest time, I believed that to succeed, I had to be better, faster, stronger than everyone else around me. I thought my value was tied to how I measured up against others. It started early—comparing grades in school, performances in music competitions, or even social milestones. I carried that mindset into adulthood, especially as I pursued my career in music.
When you’re in an industry as competitive as this one, it feels natural to constantly compare yourself to others. I’d look at other artists’ streams, followers, or achievements and feel like I wasn’t doing enough, no matter how hard I worked. It became exhausting, and worse, it stripped the joy out of my passion.
The turning point came during a songwriting session where I broke down. I wasn’t writing for me anymore; I was writing to “keep up.” My producer, who’s also a dear friend, sat me down and said something that stuck with me: “The only person you need to compete with is who you were yesterday.” It hit me hard.
I realized that my worth isn’t defined by external metrics or other people’s success. Instead, it’s about staying true to myself, growing at my own pace, and making art that reflects my journey—not someone else’s. Once I let go of that need to compete, I rediscovered the freedom and joy in creating.
Unlearning the idea of constant competition hasn’t been easy. The world will always throw comparisons at you, but now I remind myself that someone else’s success isn’t my failure. We all have our own paths, and there’s room for all of us to shine.
This shift has not only improved my mindset but also deepened the authenticity of my music. Now, I focus on being better than I was yesterday, and that’s more than enough for me

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the incredible power to bring people together. There’s nothing like looking out at a crowd and seeing strangers—people from different walks of life, backgrounds, and beliefs—all in the same space, moving to the same rhythm, feeling the same energy. In those moments, it’s not about where anyone comes from or what divides us. It’s about connection, pure and simple.
Music has this magical way of breaking down barriers. It’s humbling to know that something I create can be the reason people come together, laugh, dance, or even share a tear. Whether it’s a couple swaying to a love song, a group of friends singing along at the top of their lungs, or someone in the back just quietly feeling the vibe, those moments of unity mean everything to me.
It reminds me why I do this. The world can feel so fragmented at times, but when the music plays, all of that fades away. Seeing people connect through the songs I’ve poured my heart into is a gift I never take for granted. It’s proof that art isn’t just about the artist—it’s about the experience we create together.
That’s the real reward: knowing that, for a moment, I get to be a part of something bigger than myself. It’s not just about the music—it’s about the memories we make together. And that’s something I’ll cherish forever.
