We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jondel Gibson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jondel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I’ve always wanted to run my very own business but I never knew what that would look like. You never know when’s the right time, sometimes you just have to go for it. One day, being 4/8/2022 to be exact, I decided to file for my LLC which only took a little over a week before receiving my documents. At that time, I began to work on my website while waiting for my vendor to ship out all products. The products being activewear which I didn’t settle on until years later after having the idea. Some things just come to you and some don’t but in that moment it was clear that I loved looking just as good while taking a jog as I do going out for drinks. It took a few months to create a website I love and get the right logo. I just knew things were going to skyrocket the minute I got that inventory. It didn’t, it took time and I appreciate that now. I purchased all the packaging items needed to be successful for me and my customers. Before, I wasn’t really confident in my business but then I learned you must believe in what you do or no one else will. Today, I am overly confident and happy to serve those who support me. Today, I am more interested in becoming a serial entrepreneur so while I have my business, I also have other streams of income. This involves my continuance position in the corporate world assisting clients, my upcoming digital products along with more physical products and a later dive into the real estate market. I do not thrive off having a traditional life when it comes to retirement or family wealth. I aim to change the game for those who are watching. You can do whatever you put your mind to, it just takes a push and faith. As of right now, my website www.beautymebabes.com is running smoothly and doing great with much more to come. When my day begins, I package any orders that need shipping before assisting clients. My supporters are priority to me and I will continue to show all women that the world is ours/theirs.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a small-town girl with big city dreams. I’m always brainstorming on what it is I can do next or even better. I started selling activewear because whether we want to admit it, stylish clothing motivates us a bit more and make us feel more confident. I provide activewear that hugs your body to show off all of the beautiful things you should love about yourself. What sets me apart from others is that I will not give my supporters any service I wouldn’t accept. They’re like my family and I love to please them. I am proud of my progress when it comes to marketing, I finally understand what it feels like to be consistent and it’s been paying off. This isn’t just extra income for me, I actually love what I do and I’m overly happy even if it’s one order of magnitude. Luckily, it’s been more than that and I am overly grateful. I have a passion for this and it makes my heart smile.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Being a serial entrepreneur, you always have more than one way of making money. I used the money that I’ve made working in the corporate field on business start-up cost. This has funded my business until I began to make profit and was able to use those funds to add to my inventory.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’m not the person who tell many stories simply because I don’t like for anyone to have sympathy for me, I’m a tough woman. I’ve always held my head up no matter what but in life you go through hardships that can change you just a little bit. I am who I am today due to the way I grew up and the way I am continuing to grow. In a life of success, just know you won’t always be surrounded by those you once believed were going to be there. Those who are there, the love and support is completely unconditional. I have many stories to tell but that just might be in my first book, who knows. Serial entrepreneur at its best, stay tuned for much more.
