Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jonathan ( Mc Da Don) McIntosh . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jonathan ( Mc Da Don) , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
What’s crazy is growing up. I never really thought about doing music. I mean it was all around me constantly being that I was raised in the church. I never really had the passion until I went to college. I had a roommate name Ryan St Hill. He was always writing. So one day we didnt have classes we decided to write to Jay Z and Kanye west Otis beat. We recorded it and a people actually liked it. So we decided to do a video with our dorm friends. After that, I really began to write and we did quite a few songs. I got home from college and really dived into the music perfecting my craft constantly writing and recording myself. Id say in 2017 I met a producer by the name of Ouiwey Collins “Bootsy Collins” son and really started focusing on the music. I’ve tried dodging the music scene my whole life only to realize it’s my calling and was meant for me. Oh the video is in the link below

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
If you don’t know me I go by the name Mc Da Don ( pronounced Mac). I’m from college hill in Cincinnati Ohio. Being raised in the church, father, mother, grandma etc all could sing and dabbled into music. Whether it was choir or recording own gospel tracks. I started writing poems in 4th grade but just as an assignment not because I wanted to at the time. I didn’t dabble into the music until after high school it was my freshman year in college. Met my roomie and been perfecting my craft since 2010. I started to take it more serious as I got better with my word play when I got home from college. No I did not graduate, but that’s another story. I was introduced to Ouiwey and we started to really work. After years of just training and learning and listening I decided to put out 4 tracks in January of 2022 and released a hit single may 5th of this year, called “Bring it too Me”.I’ve done over 20 shows this year and plan on doing more and bigger shows in 2023.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have a lot that’s driving me on the journey from my kids, to the people that believe in me. What really drives me on this journey is my passion for music. I love it. I sometimes listen to Frank sinatra, pj Morton, AC/DC , all the way to Gucci mane, drake, jcole etc. I love all genres and I love all sounds, and I want to be apart of it. Being in the hip hop or rock and roll hall of fame is a goal of mine. I’ve been practicing my Grammy speech.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
It’s a lot of lessons I’ve learned on the way. I’m sure there will be more for me to learn along this road. The most important things I’ve gotten out of this is everyone isn’t you. Though you support everyone etc, everyone won’t do what you do. Being different is something I’m proud of. Hopefully starting a new wave as well, but though I do that I can’t expect for everyone to do the same. It’s a blessing and curse.
