We recently connected with Jonathan Laurenceau and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
So a couple years back I was working overnight security and I was just wondering how I can make at least a couple more dollars to help get back into paying for studio time and what not. So I end up buying a used Canon Rebel T2i and I take some practice shots so I can get used to taking pics and editing, I ended up shooting a good friend of mines, Kay, event and people fell in love with the pics I took for them. Literally three days after I post the pictures on IG, I get my first two shoots then I was able to do my first rapping session in almost two three years. So me getting back to music was all due to that Canon Rebel T2i.
Jonathan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
If you didn’t know I am Tremuur Music’s very own BiiG Geech. While I dabble in many fields my main passion is my music artistry. I been making music since I was like in the 6th grade. With the help of the legendary lime wire I’ve listened to so many artist but the ones that always stood out to me are the artist that made me feel something… anything. With the way society has grown so numb I knew if I wanted to continue to do music I would have to make people feel it. Not gonna lie it took me awhile to figure out how to do that in my style, my favorite rapper is Lil Wayne so I have adopted “a rap through every beat I hear” kind of thing but that doesn’t always result in the best music and I had to learn that. In result I dropped a single from my first official Album, Medusa ft Charm3r Available on all platforms https://open.spotify.com/track/486mMPJI6BNtWNweCw6A7K?si=DrAY3UNZSny5j5W-UX4FBw, which streams are currently 150k and counting. I’m preparing to drop a lot of projects next year so I’m very excited about and I’m also pairing it with my new clothing line which I’m nervous but excited to start a new adventure.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My audience on social media was so bad lol no interactions like that no nothing. The first thing that helped build my audience was I took everything down and only posted professional style photos and performance clips and that started boosting me a lil bit. Yet what really started taking me to the next level is doing the challenges on the gram. The people call me the challenge king cause I killed every challenge I’ve posted. At this point through simply the challenges I’ve gaining more followers and exposure than doing anything else so I will definitely keep them going in formula.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe my grind n my growth is what helped me build my reputation the most. People were already supporting cause I can rap point blank period. But people have watched me grow, watched my pen grow, watch my style grow and watch me evolve so just watching me grow as I’m able to show more and more they appreciate it more because they know what I’ve gone through to get to this level.
