We recently connected with Jonathan King-Cretot and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jonathan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At KingCretot Experience, our mission is to inspire lifelong learning, cultural curiosity, and self-confidence in every student and family we serve. But behind that mission is a deeply personal story—one rooted in my journey as a global learner, educator, and entrepreneur.
Growing up, I experienced firsthand the power of education to expand not just opportunity, but perspective. My travels and studies abroad—including time spent learning in India—deepened my belief that success in life and business starts with empathy, communication, and cultural awareness.
KingCretot Experience was founded to offer more than academic tutoring. We create personalized learning journeys that build skills and confidence, whether students are strengthening their reading and math, preparing for the next grade, or learning new languages like French and English. We serve both K–12 students and adult learners, meeting them where they are with care, consistency, and cultural insight.
This mission matters because it’s personal. It reflects what I needed as a student—and what I now strive to offer: a space where learners are seen, supported, and empowered to thrive in school, in work, and the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jonathan King-Cretot, and I’m the founder of KingCretot Experience—an educational and cultural learning hub rooted in empathy, creativity, and personalized support. I wear many hats: educator, entrepreneur, cultural connector, and lifelong learner. My work blends global perspective with local impact, helping students, families, and adult learners build confidence, deepen understanding, and thrive.
How I got here:
My journey into education and entrepreneurship was deeply influenced by my own experiences as a curious, culturally engaged student. I hold an MBA in International Business, and I’ve studied and lived in different parts of the world, including time spent learning meditation and philosophy in India. My exposure to diverse cultures shaped not only how I see the world but also how I teach. After years of working in international business and education, I saw an opportunity to create something personal, flexible, and impactful—and KingCretot Experience was born.
What we do at KingCretot Experience:
We specialize in K–12 academic tutoring, ESL instruction, and bilingual learning in English and French. We serve students of all levels, including early readers, middle schoolers navigating new academic demands, and high school students preparing for college and beyond. Our services also support adult learners, including those new to the U.S. or preparing for career changes, who need practical language and communication skills.
Whether we’re teaching geometry, building English vocabulary, or guiding French conversation practice, our goal is always the same: to empower learners with skills, confidence, and cultural awareness that go beyond the classroom.
The problems we solve:
Many families come to us because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unseen in traditional academic environments. We offer consistency, encouragement, and personalized instruction. We help students who may be falling behind catch up—and help those who are ready for more stay challenged and engaged. For adult learners, especially ESL students, we remove barriers to connection by making English accessible, conversational, and relevant to real life.
What sets us apart:
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. Every learner has a story, and at KingCretot Experience, we take the time to understand it. We combine academic excellence with cultural empathy. Sessions are warm, human, and adapted to individual needs. We’re also proud to teach in both English and French, helping bilingual and international families feel more at home.
What I’m most proud of:
I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built with families. When a parent tells me that their child is excited to learn again—or when an adult learner texts me after successfully navigating a job interview in English—I know we’re doing something right. I’m also proud of the personal relationships we maintain. Many of our students stay with us for years, growing not just as learners, but as people.
What I want people to know:
KingCretot Experience is more than tutoring—it’s a growth partnership. We’re here to support your child, your family, or your own learning goals with care, flexibility, and cultural understanding. Whether you need help mastering a subject, navigating life in a new language, or building confidence in communication, we’re ready to meet you where you are.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for KingCretot Experience has undoubtedly been word of mouth. I live in a small farming community where relationships matter and reputation spreads quickly. What started as local tutoring and language support for a few families has grown steadily, thanks to personal referrals and trust built over time.
It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how one family’s recommendation can lead to new connections—not just within our town, but across four neighboring counties. In fact, some of our services have reached international families through personal networks in Europe and North Africa. That kind of organic growth only happens when your work speaks for itself and when people feel seen, supported, and cared for. I’m proud that our business is rooted in community, and even prouder that it has grown through relationships rather than just marketing.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes—it absolutely did. KingCretot Experience (KCE) started as a side hustle and has since evolved into my primary business and main source of income. The journey started one quiet evening while I was working on lesson plans. I overheard my husband teaching French through a platform called TakeLessons, and I was intrigued. That moment sparked my curiosity and sent me down a path of research and exploration.
For nearly a year, I dedicated myself to learning the industry from the inside. I partnered with a French company and taught business English to French professionals from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., six days a week. It was intense, but it gave me firsthand data, experience, and insights into what international learners needed and valued. From there, I saw the potential for something bigger—something more personal, flexible, and culturally grounded.
That insight led to the launch of KingCretot Experience. I taught myself how to build a website, develop a brand identity, manage social media, write monthly blogs, and test different platforms to see what worked. It wasn’t always smooth, but every mistake was a lesson, and every client was a stepping stone.
Although I still enjoy teaching entrepreneurship and global studies at the university level, KCE has grown beyond a side gig. It now provides consistent income, allows me to serve diverse learners, and gives me the freedom to build something aligned with my values. Watching it grow—and knowing it started from one moment of curiosity and a willingness to learn—has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
