Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jonathan Gill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jonathan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Honestly, I was stuck in Miami during the COVID lockdown back in the spring of 2020, and I decided I was going to pursue my passion. I feel like that was how a lot of life decisions happened, since many people had the time to reflect on the state of their lives. I was in the military, and I still serve, but I decided I needed to find another professional creative outlet on the side! Thus I started my own video production business, which had always been my life passion from as far back as I can remember.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was raised in Miami, and I certainly think that shaped my love for media and professional artistry. I always experimented with short films from an early age and overtime that evolved into possessing marketable production skills. When I founded Bad Orange Entertainment, I wanted to approach media production from a holistic approach. I wanted to be able to do as much in-house as possible without sub-contracting third parties. This was because I wanted to have a strong personal relationship with all of my clients. I think it gives a lot of customers trust in you when they see you taking ownership of their projects and matching their passion. For many clients, this is the first time they’ve dived into media production, so I wanted to make a service that was accessible to all experience levels.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Oh that’s an easy one, my business partner and best friend, Ethan Toth, was an obvious first pick for me. We had known each other for about 15 years when I started Bad Orange, and I was confident in his creative vision. Ethan always had a knack for screenwriting and working with others. We’d worked together on numerous other short projects over the span of 5 years prior to the company starting up. He was just naturally the guy I was always going to go to.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth for sure, we haven’t had to look around for clients for about a year. We do our best to put out quality work so we recieve a lot of referrals.
