Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jonathan Franklin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jonathan, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

The risk I took was making a decision to buy a camera or pay my bills. I chose to buy my camera and the rest was history.

Jonathan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I got into the industry because my wife forced me to get that camera. She believed in me and my artistic ability. She pushed me and pushed me nagged a little (haha) but it gave me motivation. At times I doubted myself and she made me look myself in the mirror and built myself up. I wanted to provide the kids a special highlight video and pictures that they can remember. I built this not knowing what the future holds and made it a family business. My son who is also very artistic is taking pictures and asking me about lighting because he’s doing his own thing with stop motion. These are things I wish I had prior knowledge of before. I want to be able to provide memorable memories with just a picture or video. Capturing special achievements one by one.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

The lesson I had to unlearn is not everyone is going to understand why I chose a specific song to go with a specific part of the content. It’s ok to do free work and put in your best for that free work.
