We recently connected with Jonathan Dade and have shared our conversation below.
Jonathan, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Influenced from Deuteronomy 6:5-9, my hope is that my lifestyle will influence my children and community to follow a similar path. Too often, people tell others to do things that they themselves do not do, and whether we are talking religion or business or relationships, I believe we should model the change or behaviors that we want to see in others. If I leave the legacy of doing the right things, and people subsequently do the same, I would be proud of that legacy.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Providence. Most of our lives our saturated with divine appointments and chance and sometimes planned events, but we need to step back and see where we are supposed to go and what we are destined to do. It took me over three decades to realize I was created for, and in training to be a minister. My physical fitness from the military and sales skills from corporate america were preparation for me to survive in the very difficult profession of healing the hearts of hurting people. I am most proud when I see families restored, lives changed, and people growing closer to God.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being different. Every organization or business needs to differentiate themselves from other options their clientele can choose from. Before any big decision, I made a point to study the market, deeply consider what worked (or did not), and then move forward with “what was needed and different”. An easy example would be one local congregation of our denomination having a leader with moral struggles, and another who led 6hr long services and another projecting an illegitimate feel by meeting only in homes. The logical conclusion was for us to plant an assembly that had shorter services, led by stable leader, who met in traditional church buildings. So again, it is important to study the market and be different, but in the right way.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Aside from pursuing my masters in business and theology from Washington State and Colorado Christian respectively, one of my most influential resources was Strength Finders. It is a book and assessment and concept that focuses on what you do well, and not caring about the areas in which you lack. An example would be like if you are a shark and do not run well, stick with swimming and swim like a champ! Too often, we try to develop our opportunities when in reality, they probably won’t ever really become that good. So do what YOU do, and do it well.
