We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jonah Meyer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jonah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I was in my early twenties when I decided that no matter what I ended up doing career wise, music would be a part of it. Music is in my blood. I spent a lot of time in my aunt’s home studio making music with her whether that be playing on the keyboard, guitar, or drums. My aunt was the one who introduced me to music at a young age and I’ve been in love with it since.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the co-owner of the apparel company Be Kurvy, as well as a music producer, and podcaster. I came into the apparel business after meeting my wife who has been in the business for 10 plus years. Be Kurvy offers a variety of products and services to consumers such as hair care products, detox pills, accessories, jewelry, and of course clothes! As far as music and podcasting goes, I picked that up some years ago before met my wife. I am a self-taught beat maker and am currently marketing my beats for many different uses including sync licensing. My podcast, The Christianity Method, I started about 5 years ago as a way to share my love of God with the world and help people better understand the Gospel versus all the religious tradition we have in the church that can be very misleading and confusing. I’m most proud of the perseverance I have despite the lack of support from family and friends. It’s important to never give up on your passions and not be concerned with obtaining approval from others.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is being able to create something new period! There is something so amazing about our ability to create as people. The fulfillment I get from creating a new song is rewarding enough for me as it is.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Show support and share their content. The more exposure an artist has the better chance they are recognized for their talents and gifts. Unfortunately we live in a society that consists too much of envy and jealousy. If only people would set aside their feelings and learn how to love and support one another then there would be room for everyone to prosper and grow.
