Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jon Tucker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I always wanted to add my own flare to my clothes. I been customizing my own clothes since about 2017, 2018. I came up with calling my brand LIMBO in 2020 during the pandemic because that’s exactly what I felt like I was in but it didn’t have to be a “bad” thing. I love the idea of 1 of 1 pieces and exclusive clothing so I decided to start my own brand doing exactly that.

Jon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jon Tucker I’m from NYC I moved around the boroughs a bit Queens,Brooklyn, Harlem. I was customizing my own clothes since 2017. I was working at Buffalo Exchange at the time my co-worker bought a customized denim jacket from me and then not too long later a regular customer bought a sweater I made as well those 2 events as well as the huge support from my partner made me take myself serious as a fashion designer despite no formal fashion training. I mostly provide 1 of 1 pieces. I love to work with denim, camo pants, hoodies, as well as different and fun patterns. I would consider those my specialty. I’m most proud of starting my brand and sticking with it. I haven’t ran into major problems regarding my clients but I’m easy to reach and willing to rectify any possible problem that may occur. What sets me apart is simply me. There’s only one LIMBO.NYC. I know there is plenty of designers who make 1 of 1 pieces, many designers in NYC, many designers who don’t have fashion training. I personally don’t see any designs like mine especially my personal favorites pieces I like to call Alien Camo Pants. Most people in the fashion world has been doing it for a long time or have a family member who has been doing it. Fashion is something I truly took a leap of faith in. I started in my early 20s and before that had never had any desire to do so and I’m proud of where I’m at with it now and can’t wait to continuously grow. I use to want to be a NBA player. What I learned from sports is what I bring into the fashion world as well. Great work ethic I practice everyday and have a non stop motor to achieve my goal.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is the freedom to create and express. I love my designs I love learning new ways to create. Even if I didn’t have any revenue from my work I simply love to do it. I brings me peace and truly makes me smile.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
My clients can reach me anytime. Whether it’s via email, or social media or the few who can contact me directly I always try to respond promptly and make sure their matter is dealt with. I’m friendly, flexible and I always try to meet their needs for the products that they purchase. I do a lot of the work on my own and people understand that, but I meet my deadlines and make sure the work is done right. My clients show me loyalty I return the favor.
