We recently connected with Jon Ososki and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always loved music growing up. At a very young age I started trying out many different types of instruments like piano and the violin. I also started playing bass guitar in bands at a very young age. I was really excited and fascinated with the way each instrument and different types of music would make me feel. I started writing songs around age 12 or 13 and right away from those early songs and musical ideas, I knew I wanted to always be writing music and pursue it professionally.
Jon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an electronic music artist, multi-instrumentalist, and music composer creating downtempo, chill, and cinematic electronica. I studied songwriting at The Berklee College of Music in Boston and I’m currently a recording artist on Filter Label. I also compose music for media and have composed music for numerous short films, commercials, and music libraries worldwide.
As an artist I started releasing music in 2015. Things started to take off in 2016 after releasing my EP “Shatter The Perfection”. The third track on that EP “Relief In Believing” really started to take off and be included on a lot of new playlists. Those playlists lead to more playlists, radio plays, etc. Since then I’ve continued to release more albums, EPs, singles, and collaborations as an electronic music artist. I’m currently promoting my latest conceptual releases “Our Failure Of Imagination” and “The Capture Of That One Feeling”. In addition to that, I’m also currently working in my studio on a brand new full length album to be released in 2024.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
As many of my fans know I started out playing in a band and performing. Which is different from what I do now. I have always loved writing music, but it was always difficult for me performing on stage and the lifestyle that comes with it. I had to take some time off to reevaluate what I wanted in my musical career, and what I wanted from my music. I started to understand where my strengths are, and what I was really good at. As I have said before, focusing on one thing I do really well and not stretching myself too thin has really helped me find the path in my music career.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s so rewarding when I am contacted by someone who enjoys and understands my music. As a creative, I feel sometimes it’s hard to explain your work to someone else. So for me, when I receive a message from a fan about how much they enjoy my music and how much they enjoy the vibe and story I’m telling… that means everything to me. It’s very rewarding.
