We were lucky to catch up with Jon Giurleo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
In 1984, Bryan Adams crafted the timeless melody of “Heaven,” a tune that has since become a musical canvas for reinterpretation. Renowned artists such as DJ Sammy, Dash Berlin, Azteck, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and more have lent their creativity to remixing and covering this iconic track. Fast-forward to 2023, where Jon Giurleo and co-producer Kahikko have breathed new life into the song with their latest rendition.
This contemporary take on “Heaven” is already making waves, finding a home on New Music Friday Suomi editorial playlist on Spotify. Its resonance extends beyond digital platforms, echoing through the airwaves of Finnish National radio and reaching audiences across Europe and America. The 2023 version of “Heaven” is not merely a song; it’s a testament to the enduring allure of a melody that transcends time and borders.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always had this passion for music, and as a teen, I’d tinker around with music-making software just for fun. But little did I know that those late-night experiments would lead me to where I am today.
I still remember the moment I decided to share my creations with the world. Nervously, I uploaded a track that I had poured my heart into, combining dance beats with introspective lyrics. I had no idea if anyone would connect with it, but the response was overwhelming.
My influences are scattered across the music spectrum. From the pulsating rhythms of dance and electronic music to pop, each genre has shaped my style in its own way.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
To be honest, I’m still in the dark about NFTs and their practical uses. I dabbled with creating some out of curiosity, but I haven’t fully embraced the trend. As of 2023, I don’t see them becoming a part of our everyday lives. Crypto, once promising, has struggled to gain widespread adoption due to scams, lack of trust, and the bursted NFT bubble. Many NFTs seemed worthless, and the digital gold rush felt like a fleeting craze that eventually came crashing down.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Threads, Soundcloud, Spotify, etc. by sharing content that reflects my passion and ideas that I think are worth sharing with the world. The right people gravitate towards it. I focused on engaging with my followers, responding to their comments and messages, and building a genuine connection with them. By utilizing eye-catching visuals and sharing creative projects, I managed to reach a broader audience and attract like-minded individuals who were interested in my niche.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be to pick a couple of platforms to go all in on. Social media can be a massive time waster if you’re mindlessly scrolling all day and not using it to promote your brand or business.
Find your niche and create content that resonates with your target audience. Be consistent with your posting schedule and interact with your followers regularly. Don’t be afraid to collaborate with others in your industry or share your social media handles on other platforms to expand your reach. Above all, be patient and persistent.
