We recently connected with Jon Deli and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jon, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
I was the first channel to share my losses on a consistent basis. I first came in and all i saw were wins and jackpots. I wanted to show people the reality of gaming especially at the high limit level. I also provide commentary from start to finish. I use movie quotes, sarcasm and comedic banter, therefore there are no dead spins.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jon I go by NJ Slot Guy on all social platforms. I play high limit slot machines and provide some of the best commentary and entertainment in the community. I play in casinos all across the country from $10 a spin up to $250 at times. All I did was pull my phone at start recording. The rest was history. Once I started speaking, the people couldn’t get enough of me. I was unprepared to say the least, at the uptrend and had to transition quickly into a content creator. I started to share all of my losing sessions which is something nobody had done at the time. I also have a good time while I am recording. I want the viewer to feel as though they are sitting there next to me whether a drink in hand or cussing at the machines with me. My goal is to make someone smile on a daily basis. What I wasn’t prepared for was the onslaught of love from people not only across the USA but all over the world. I have fans spanning over 40 countries and people on a daily basis that reach out telling me how i changed their lives in some way. Once I saw i could have such an impact, I started to sprint at full speed. I like to respond to my fans and in doing so I helped create a ton of channels out there just with a simple response of an email and telling them what to do. My goal is that they too will help someone else and a whole successful chain of people start helping out others.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped build my reputation was I did not shy away from other channels that had less subscribers than I did/do. I always wanted to work with channels that had lower numbers because I really never had anyone working with me. I now can say I helped out a few channels that have all been monetized and have a great following. For some reason on social media, all you see are collabs from stars to stars but never stars to beginner. I wanted to change that and I wanted people to be successful. We would all do better if we all just shared each others content and worked together instead of treating each other like competition. There is no race to the finish, the pie is infinite.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I can say I built my audience better by just being myself. When I first started I was shy in speaking and didnt really know what i could say/not say. One day I let loose and my channel just went bananas. Therefore, I just started to be myself and act like I do everyday. The other thing was consistency. You have to stay in the public’s eye, so I made it my mission to post something every single day since I started.
