Jon-David , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is a series called “EVERYBODY.” It was inspired by Rihanna’s Fenty lingerie line, which revolutionized the lingerie industry by highlighting and celebrating a diverse range of body types.

I wanted to bring this same spirit of inclusivity to my local Seattle community. To do that, I gathered a group of people, some of whom had never modeled before and others who had modeled but never in lingerie. My goal was to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone felt comfortable and valued, regardless of their body shape or size.

Through “EVERYBODY,” I wanted to challenge traditional beauty standards and encourage people to embrace their unique selves. The project became more than just a photoshoot; it was a celebration of diversity and a step toward reshaping the way we view beauty in the lingerie industry. It was incredibly rewarding to see participants grow in confidence and to know that this project helped promote a more inclusive and body-positive culture.

Jon-David , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Jon-David Toves, and I’m from the island of Guam. My journey into photography began shortly after high school. It all started with a simple camera and an innate curiosity about capturing moments. What drew me in was the way photography could bring people together with just the press of a button. The creativity and magic of those moments were addictive.

Growing up in a place where being gay wasn’t as accepted as it is now, the camera became my sanctuary, a safe space where I could be myself and explore my creativity without judgment. Over time, I expanded my skills, working on a variety of media projects—from product photography to weddings, headshots, and creative shoots. Regardless of the project, I always felt at home behind the lens.

What sets me apart is my versatility and open approach to collaboration. I take on diverse projects and always aim to create a safe, inclusive environment where clients feel comfortable expressing their unique visions. Whether it’s a commercial shoot or a personal portrait, I focus on making people feel seen and valued.

What I’m most proud of is my commitment to creating work that makes people happy. I want my clients and followers to know that my mission is to help them feel appreciated and confident through the images I capture. It’s not just about taking photos; it’s about building connections and celebrating individuality.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the unique gift I can offer to others through my work. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that I can use my talent to make a positive impact, whether it’s by volunteering my skills for a good cause or simply bringing a smile to someone’s face with my creativity.

Being able to help someone in need through my art fills me with joy and a sense of purpose. It’s not just about creating beautiful things; it’s about connecting with people on a deeper level and showing them that they’re worth it, that they’re good enough just as they are. The opportunity to give back and make a difference with my creativity is what truly makes it all worthwhile.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source of new clients for me has always been personal connections. Every major job I’ve landed has come through a recommendation, which is why I believe it’s crucial to maintain a professional attitude and consistently deliver on what you promise.
