We recently connected with Jon & Crystal Wells and have shared our conversation below.
Jon & Crystal , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
“It started by accident—but it felt like fate.”
Back in 2021, we weren’t trying to start a business. Jon had DJed off and on over the years, even spent time as a sports announcer for a local high school. It was something he enjoyed, but it wasn’t something we ever pictured becoming a full-time venture. Then one October evening, everything changed.
A friend reached out in a pinch: “Can you DJ my son’s wedding?”
We didn’t own equipment. We borrowed what we could, pieced it all together, and made it work.
But when we arrived at the venue, it quickly became clear—there was no plan. No one running the show. The couple was overwhelmed, and things were spiraling fast. That’s when Crystal, without hesitation, jumped in. She took over coordinating the day, helping the couple breathe, smile, and actually enjoy their wedding.
By the end of the night, the photographer came up to us and asked for our card—for her own wedding.
The next week, the phone rang. Then it rang again.
That one night turned into a dozen. A dozen turned into a season. And before we knew it, Crossroads Entertainment was born—not out of ambition, but out of answering a need we didn’t even realize people had: a team that shows up, steps in, and makes sure the day feels as good as it looks.
What got us most excited wasn’t just the music or the planning. It was the look of relief on a bride’s face. The mother of the groom who got to enjoy the night instead of running around. The laughter, the dancing, the peace of mind.
We didn’t just find a business—we found a calling.
And from day one, our mission has been the same:
Be the team we wish we had at our own wedding.
No pressure. No upsells. Just real people who care deeply about your best day ever.
How DJ Squatch & Crystal Clear Coordination Were Born
Our brand may be Crossroads Entertainment, but if you’ve spent any time around us, you’ve probably heard of DJ Squatch and Crystal Clear Coordination—two names that hold a lot of meaning for us.
DJ Squatch came naturally. Jon stands 6’4”, 285 pounds, with an unmistakable beard and an even bigger presence on the mic. For years, one of his closest friends affectionately called him “Sasquatch.” It was a nickname that always stuck—but after that friend passed away, it took on a deeper meaning. Jon embraced the name, not just as a fun persona, but as a tribute.
DJ Squatch isn’t just a DJ name—it’s a reminder to stay grounded, stay humble, and bring joy the way his friend would’ve wanted him to.
Crystal Clear Coordination was born from Crystal’s heart for organization and calm. After coordinating her first wedding on a whim, it was clear she had a gift—not just for timelines and checklists, but for creating space where couples could actually enjoy their day.
She wanted a way to shine a spotlight on the coordination side of our business—and that’s where the name came in.
Crystal Clear Coordination isn’t just a clever play on her name—it’s our promise. That your day will be smooth, stress-free, and crystal clear.
Together, these identities reflect who we are: personal, passionate, and always bringing our whole selves to every celebration. Whether it’s Jon hyping the crowd or Crystal guiding the flow behind the scenes, we’ve built something that’s both fun and deeply rooted in purpose.

Jon & Crystal , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Outside of Crossroads Entertainment, Jon is a middle school teacher and Crystal is a speech-language pathologist in the school system. Our everyday lives are rooted in service, leadership, and making a difference—whether that’s in the classroom, in therapy sessions, or on the dance floor at a wedding.
We’re both extroverts by nature. We thrive in high-energy environments, love connecting with people, and genuinely enjoy being part of moments that matter. Whether we’re helping students grow or helping couples celebrate, our heart is always the same: serve well, love big, and leave people better than we found them.
That’s what drives our work at Crossroads. It’s more than music and logistics—it’s about people, connection, and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels cared for.
What We Offer:
Today, Crossroads Entertainment provides a one-stop experience for weddings and events, including:
DJ & Emcee Services (always with professional-grade sound and lighting)
Wedding Coordination through our signature Crystal Clear Coordination
Content Creation, including social media recaps and behind-the-scenes moments
But what we really offer? Peace of mind. Energy. Experience. And a team that doesn’t just work your wedding—we invest in it.
What Makes Us Different:
We’ve learned that the wedding industry is saturated with sales pitches, upgrade traps, and impersonal vendors who treat every wedding the same.
That’s not us.
We’re not salesmen. We’re your team.
We believe in:
Upfront pricing with no hidden fees
Honest conversations about what you need—and what you don’t
Team-based collaboration with your vendors, not ego battles
Being the calm in the chaos, especially when things go off-script
Our mission is simple:
Create experiences that feel as good as they look, with a team you trust from the first call to the final dance.
What We’re Most Proud Of:
We’re proud that we’ve built something real—something that keeps growing not because we’re chasing numbers, but because people feel safe with us. They feel seen. And they walk away saying, “That was the best night of our lives.”
We’re also proud that our business reflects our life: family-oriented, faith-rooted, and people-first. We’re raising our kids while raising the standard for what a wedding day should feel like—and that’s something we’ll never take for granted.
So whether you’re a couple planning your big day, a vendor looking for a dependable partner, or someone just getting to know us—here’s what we want you to know:
We’re not here to sell you a vibe. We’re here to create it—with you, for you, and beside you.
The Power of Content: How Jon’s Creative Vision Drives Crossroads
In today’s world, content isn’t just an add-on—it’s a driver. And for Crossroads Entertainment, Jon’s passion for content creation has become one of our biggest strengths.
From day one, Jon has approached content with intention. Whether it’s a behind-the-scenes moment, a highlight reel that captures the energy of a reception, or a voiceover video that explains how we do what we do—he tells real stories that connect with real people. That connection has helped fuel our growth and build trust with couples before they ever send a message.
As of 2025, we’ve grown to over 23,000 followers across social media, and that’s no accident. We’ve committed to showing up consistently, offering value, being transparent, and—above all—being human. Our content reflects the heart of our business: energetic, honest, fun, and deeply invested in people’s biggest moments.
But more than just numbers, content has opened doors. It’s helped us reach new markets, build vendor relationships, and become a recognized brand across Kentucky and beyond. Jon’s creative direction ensures we’re not just seen—we’re remembered.
Content creation isn’t just something we offer. It’s something that’s helped build Crossroads into what it is today.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding Our Business: Building the Brand Before the Bank Account
We didn’t take out loans, bring in investors, or start with deep pockets. We started small—intentionally. Every dollar we made went right back into the business. Instead of chasing expensive gear or fancy setups right away, we focused on something far more valuable: our brand.
One of the most important pieces of advice we received came from Jon’s father, who told him:
“If you focus on building relationships with your clients and vendors, the money will come. But if you focus on the money first, you’ll struggle.”
That advice has shaped everything we’ve done since day one.
We built trust. We served with heart. We showed up. And as word spread, the brand began to grow—organically and authentically.
Over time, we used the income we earned to slowly invest in high-quality equipment, expand our services, and build out our inventory. We didn’t rush the process. We let our reputation lead the way.
As of 2025, we’re proud to say that Crossroads Entertainment is a well-known, highly respected brand in our region—and we’ve built it with minimal debt and maximum intention. People know who we are, what we stand for, and the value we bring. That didn’t happen overnight—it happened because we put people first and trusted that the rest would follow.
And it did.

Have you ever had to pivot?
A Pivot That Changed Everything
One of the biggest pivots we ever made wasn’t planned. In fact, it started as a favor.
Back in 2021, we were both working full-time in education—Jon as a teacher, Crystal as a speech-language pathologist. We loved our careers and had no intention of stepping into the wedding industry full time. But then came that one wedding—a friend’s son, a borrowed sound system, and a day that had no direction until Crystal stepped in and took over.
That was the moment everything shifted.
What was supposed to be a one-time gig quickly became something much bigger. Couples started reaching out. Vendors remembered us. Word-of-mouth grew fast. And we realized we weren’t just offering services—we were filling a need for couples who wanted more than just a DJ or a timeline. They wanted people they could trust to care, lead, and create a genuinely joyful experience.
That pivot became Crossroads Entertainment—a business built on heart, hustle, and the belief that weddings should feel as good as they look.
But even now, we’re still pivoting. Recently, we began the process of expanding into a second team, and we’ll be honest—it’s exciting and terrifying all at once. When your name and reputation are on the line, trusting others to carry that same standard isn’t easy. There’s pressure. There’s stress. And there are a lot of late-night conversations asking, “Are we ready?”
But what keeps us grounded is what’s always guided us: we’re not building a business to get bigger—we’re building it to serve better. If expanding means more couples can feel supported, more events can run smoothly, and more memories can be made with less stress… then the pivot is worth it.
Sometimes growth looks like more followers and booked-out weekends.
Other times, it looks like hard decisions, deep trust, and stepping into the unknown.
And we’re here for all of it.
And speaking of pivots—we can’t leave out Santa.
Jon, aka DJ Squatch, also created a second identity: a modern, Viking-inspired Santa Claus. What started as a unique character for private sessions quickly grew into full-on holiday experiences. Now, our Santa Experience includes sensory-friendly sessions, magical meet-and-greets, and even DJ’d holiday parties where Santa Squatch blends music, character, and pure Christmas joy.
It’s become one of our favorite parts of the year—another way we connect with families, spread joy, and use entertainment to create unforgettable memories. And yes, seeing Santa behind the DJ booth has become a fan favorite.
Whether we’re hosting a wedding, running a holiday event, or navigating the growing pains of expansion—our story has always been about saying yes to the opportunities that align with our heart. We didn’t plan any of this. But we’re incredibly proud of where it’s led.
And we’re just getting started.
