We were lucky to catch up with Jon Coty recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

Jon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The conception of DWELL44 comes after 30 plus years in the home building industry, learning from others mistakes, lack of communication, poor customer service and unhappy clients is what kept me focused on the determination to suceed, since “if you do not fail, you do not learn” approach. The relationship building with builders, the evil eye of the lumberyard sales guys as they lost tiny increments of business over time due to taking care of the builder and his client, was a driving force, a natural trait that I somehow inherited from someone in my family.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients are old clients, builders who are not getting taken care of by their current dealer, supplier of windows and doors. As I always say ” God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason…” So you can listen to what your clients need and deliver it. Simple sauce! Architects love starting the process early on with their clients as they can “test” the various windows, cabinet drawers and doors, etc.
