Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jolly Gonos. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jolly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Currently in work on my third full length album. I’m completely independent and record all of my music at home. My last album, Run debuted at #42 on the AmazonMusic Hip-Hop charts and #51 on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts. I’m hoping Weed Jesus reaches even further up those charts and really impacts people in a meaningful way. This album is raw and personal. It’s got some different vibes from fun and vibey to dark and angry. The last year I’ve spent writing it has been one of the hardest in my life and the album definitely reflects that. I feel like people will really relate to this one and I can’t wait to share it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I spent seven years as a United States Marine. When I got out the civilian world was foreign to me. I started writing music as a way to deal with my demons and help heal the scars of my service. I’m currently in work on my third full length album and I’m stoked to finally get to share it soon!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate goal is to spread peace, love, acceptance and understanding. By sharing my experiences through my music I hope to help others to live their true authentic lives.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The excitement on my wife’s face when I finish writing a song. She’s been my biggest supporter and muse from the very beginning. I’m truly blessed to have a partner that supports me every step of the way through my creative journey.
