We were lucky to catch up with Jojet Ortega Photography recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jojet Ortega, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
Biggest trends I am seeing is the use of AI. I am not in favor of this trend as a Photographer. I do feel that as AI slowly takes over Photographers might become reliant on automated process and decline in using their traditional editing skills; thus, loss of their skills and craftmanship.
I also feel that reliance on AI for editing and composition could hinder a let’s say a beginner Photographer’s ability to develop their own style. I do also see a lot of ethical concerns with the use of AI on Photography. -deceptive or misleading visual contents and copy rights issues.
As a sports photographer, I have seen photographers take the subject out of its original image-dog on a surfboard and manipulate it that it is now in a different background-3d beach settings.
As AI’s popularity continues to grow in businesses, I think it’s a possible downfall for Photographers .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My love for photography began when I was in my 20’s, after “thousands” of treasured photos taken. I realized that life passes us by too quickly and having those moments to relive are precious. I feel that there is a strong connection between people and telling their stories and that is the reason why I love Photography. It’s challenging as well as nice to indulge, having a passion and satisfaction in telling stories rather than just covering some events or clicking photos and editing them. There are more types of stories than just happiness and smiles. I enjoy photography because it has given me the opportunity to share in people’s most special moments on a regular basis.
I remember how much fun I had working with people, capturing moments and emotions, seeing the look on their faces when they saw their own portrait and actually liked what they saw. As a Photographer you would want to make sure to work with future client’s budget. After all they approached you for the reason that they found something special with your pictures. I am finding myself to be falling in love with sports photography and action shots.
I have been fortunate enough to freelance for the below events/organizations:
The Unity Council Dia De Los Muertos
NorCal Rugged Maniac
World Dog Surfing Championships.
SF Pride/LGBTQ Silicon Valley
Walk To End Alzheimer’s
Pride @ Lucid Motors
Winner of the Snap Your Best San Leandro.
Helen Woodward Surf A Thon.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
My view on NFT’s is as similar to my view and opinion on AI. first it is still unregulated. I don’t agree that NFT’s is now a major contributor regarding climate change via cryptocurrencies. Last but not least I have read enough articles NFTs as a vehicle for money laundering, fraud, and generally deceptive behavior.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
