We recently connected with Joi Talley and have shared our conversation below.
Joi , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
I see that A lot of people really do the same thing . You would think it’s a discouragement but it’s really motivating. It makes you wanna go harder and come up with different ideas that you can use to make your brand stand out and show what makes you different from the rest. Also marketing wise you have to know how to market your products and get your name out there. I’m still working on building a solid platform & name for myself.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well for starters my name is Joi Yvonne I started my business under the name “venvvy” back in 2016 when I was in High school and around that time I had a small website that I made myself selling eyelashes, vendors , phone cases etc. it was my introduction into the entrepreneur lifestyle. In 2018-2019 I focused on Just selling mink eyelashes from a vendor on AliExpress. I did my own website once again and my own photo shoot at home and changed the name to “yvonne lash co”. Then around 2019 i graduated high school and started focusing on selling bundles. Once again I did my own website and I launched “joiyvonneco” sales were good but I wanted to do more.. so then I started providing custom installs. I wanted to go to school and master my craft , so I taught myself how to make custom handmade mink eyelashes which is what I’m focusing on now. I like to call myself a “jack of all trades, master of all” ~laughs- because that’s what sets me apart from the rest. I wanna dip in everything I possibly can because you only live once and there’s multiple multiple ways to get money on this earth. I’m most proud of myself , even when I wanted to give up I just took a break and thought what could I do better , what else can I provide for my customers. I never like to rush my brand and my craft because I want a Steady clientele I want my customers to always feel comfortable and always want to shop again.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn getting mad at supporters or forcing support. All you need is yourself and god and you can go very far. It is so true when they say you get the most support from strangers. People are going to support who they want and pay for what they want. As a friend you can’t get mad when they come to you and ask for free products or discounts. They understand they have to pay they just don’t want to. So you politely tell them no and keep it cute and pushing.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
When I first started my business “venvvy” in 2016 I was drop-shipping my products. With barely any knowledge on drop-shipping I just placed the products on the Website & I was losing money because I didn’t calculate shipping , packaging, and then my take home cost. I tried to make prices convenient for others but sometimes you have to know your worth and know your products. Don’t be afraid to get pricey, how do you think Telfar or Ysl got to where they are now.
