We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Johnny Rodriguez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Johnny below.
Johnny, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
If I could go back in time, I would absolutely have started my consulting business sooner. Consulting is something that has always come naturally to me, but in the early years, I often found myself offering advice and strategic insights for free. I’ve always had a strong ability to assess businesses across various industries and provide actionable suggestions to drive revenue growth and enhance brand awareness.
Seven years ago, I officially launched my Business and Marketing Consulting firm. At the time, I was deeply involved in the music industry, serving as a record executive while managing my independent record label. The skills I developed during that period—such as managing talent, building brand identities, and driving business growth—transferred seamlessly into the consulting space.
Had I started my consulting business earlier, I believe I could have had an even broader impact by helping more businesses scale and thrive. That said, the experience and lessons I gained during my time in the music industry provided me with invaluable insights that now serve my clients well. So while starting earlier would have accelerated my path, I’m confident that the timing of my journey has been pivotal in shaping the consultant I’ve become today. It’s about leveraging every part of your experience to create value.

Johnny, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
To introduce myself, I’ve been deeply involved in the business and marketing world for years, but my journey started in the music industry, where I worked as a record executive and managed my own independent label. My experience in that space gave me a strong foundation in brand building, strategic growth, and the importance of connecting with audiences on a meaningful level. Over time, I realized that my ability to help businesses grow wasn’t limited to the music world, and seven years ago, I transitioned into Business and Marketing Consulting full-time.
Now, I work with businesses across various industries, offering tailored strategies to improve their marketing, increase brand awareness, and ultimately boost revenue. Whether it’s crafting a powerful digital marketing plan, refining a company’s branding, or identifying new revenue streams, my goal is always to help my clients achieve sustainable growth.
What sets me apart is my ability to quickly assess a business and identify practical, impactful solutions, no matter the industry. I bring a unique perspective, blending creativity with strategy, and I’m proud of the results I’ve helped my clients achieve.
What I’m most proud of is the long-term success I’ve been able to help my clients create. Seeing a business thrive after implementing one of my strategies is incredibly rewarding. For potential clients and followers, I want them to know that my approach is always personalized—there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. I’m here to deliver results, not just ideas, and to help businesses elevate themselves in ways they may not have thought possible.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I believe that building strong relationships with my clients starts with personalized communication. I make it a point to check in regularly and stay engaged with them beyond just the scope of work. Whether it’s through follow-up meetings, sharing relevant industry insights, or offering advice even when it’s not expected, I make sure my clients feel supported and valued. Brand loyalty comes from providing real value, building trust, and showing clients that their success is my priority.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes, it did. In my early 20s, I held various jobs—from working in call centers and financial roles to sales and event planning. Each job gave me the opportunity to polish different skills, from communication and sales strategies to managing client relationships and executing events. What set me apart was the ability to take what I learned from these roles and apply them directly to my own business. I always tell my clients not to view their business as a side hustle, but to think of their 9-5 as the side hustle funding their true passion. I encourage them to learn as much as they can from their jobs, take those policies, procedures, and even business models, and apply them to their own ventures.
One key mindset shift I share with my clients is to stop thinking of their employer as paying them to work—they’re paying them to learn. The knowledge you gain in those roles can be transformed into something powerful for your own business. By adopting this approach, my own side hustle eventually grew into the full-time consulting business I run today. Key milestones along the way included mastering digital marketing, building a strong network, and securing my first big clients—each one helped build the momentum that scaled my business to where it is today.
