We recently connected with Johnika Green and have shared our conversation below.
Johnika , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
My real estate company, Greenhouse International Real Estate is known for offering excellent customer service and information to smaller communities that don’t have direct access to insight on real estate investing and homeownership. Serving an underserved community is important because it helps to provide access to services, resources, and opportunities that may not be readily available in that community. I’m from a small town in South Georgia where there are not a lot of realtors and real estate firms that are minority owned and shared the same passion and concern for my community. My firm targets underserved areas to guide them to homeownership. By meeting the needs of the community, my team and I help to reduce disparities and promote equity, which has a positive impact on the individual lives of those within the community and on the community as a whole. Additionally, serving an underserved community helps us to create a more inclusive and just environment where everyone has an opportunity to succeed and thrive by owning real estate.
Johnika , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Greenhouse International Real Estate offers real estate services, that includes residential, commercial, and land sales, to several states and internationally. We cover Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. I started the firm in Norcross, Georgia but I realized there was a need for more real estate representation for minorities in South Georgia, the area where I was born and raised. I started to target the smaller towns to help educate and provide real estate services where they didn’t have access to it or the same resources larger cities have. My team and I don’t serve one area of the state, we look for opportunities to meet a need wherever that may be. We help any family, on any budget own a home. We help them from start to finish with educating them and providing guidance. I have allowed God to lead me towards wherever there is a need, we want to meet our communities real estate needs.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My firm, Greenhouse International Real Estate is one of the largest black female owned brokerages in the state of Georgia, we’ve built a reputation around targeting smaller markets that have minimal resources as it relates to real estate and housing. Our agents have discovered so many hidden gems that were overlooked by other agencies and simultaneously found a need for more realtor representation in those areas. I was born and raised in South Georgia in a city called Douglas, where there are not many realtors or brokers that have the same background and passion for my community as me. As my team and I started to serve my community more and more, our reputation grew in the smaller more rural areas in Georgia. My office in located in Peachtree Corners, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia but we serve all parts of Georgia not just the metropolitan areas. We’ve also gained a lot of attention from being a faith based company as well.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I believe the most effective strategy for getting more clients in the real estate industry is to share information, to educate the public about what we do, how we serve, what the benefits are of working with us. We serve. That’s the basis of how to gain more followers and clients.
