We recently connected with Johnene Breaux and have shared our conversation below.
Johnene, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think the most important thing it takes to be successful is you simply believing in yourself that you can be. That belief will activate something on the inside of you and it will make you keep going until you’ve reached your goals.

Johnene, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a talented and highly skilled personal chef with over 7 years in the culinary industry. I graduated in May 2016 from Nicholls State University with a Bachelors of Science in Culinary Arts. Shortly after graduating, I begin my personal chef journey working for A-list celebrity clients. My first celebrity client I worked along side my colleague, Chef D’Antoine Hills for about a year. In 2017 I was given another personal chef opportunity and decided to move to Los Angeles, CA. Working as a personal chef has enabled me to travel the world and cook for other celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, Lauren London, Offset, Justin Beiber to name a few. Currently I am living in Los Angeles, CA and working as a full time personal chef. I am mostly proud of the journey I’ve been on, on my way to the top. There are times where I may feel discouraged, but I keep going and I know the best is yet to come. Always remember if you give up too soon you never know what you may be giving up. Keep going
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Networking with other chefs definitely helped me build my reputation. Connecting with like minded individuals or people who are doing what you’re interested in doing is very important. Before I became a celebrity chef I connected with other celebrity chefs which led me to many opportunities.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I think a lesson I had to unlearn was being too available for others other than myself. My career requires me to be very giving of self because being a chef means you have to meet others needs everyday. So it’s easy to put yourself on the back burner, but I’ve learned I have to be available to myself/my needs which makes me better in my career and other aspects of my life/relationships.
