We were lucky to catch up with John Moody recently and have shared our conversation below.
John, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
At Water Bridge Aquamation, our mission stems from my 15 years as a mortician and funeral home manager. I’ve seen families increasingly seek natural and sustainable ways to honor their loved ones, which inspired me to extend these options to pets. Pets are beloved family members, yet they often lack the same caring aftercare choices. I recognized a clear need for environmentally friendly options for our furry friends. Our mission is about honoring the bond we share with our pets and ensuring they receive the dignity and care we provide to our human family members.
This mission is meaningful to me because it aligns with my values of compassion, respect, and sustainability. Pets hold a special place in our lives, and losing them can be just as difficult as losing a human loved one. By offering aquamation, a gentle and eco-friendly alternative to traditional cremation, we acknowledge this grief while also making a positive environmental impact. Our goal is to create a space where families can celebrate their pets’ lives in a way that honors their memory and respects our planet.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is John Moody, and I’m the owner of Water Bridge Aquamation, Denver’s first pet funeral home specializing in aquamation, also known as water cremation. I got into this field because I recognized a need for more sustainable and gentle aftercare options for pets. As someone who deeply values both animals and the environment, I was drawn to aquamation because it offers a kinder, eco-friendly alternative to traditional cremation methods.
At Water Bridge Aquamation, we offer families a service that is not only respectful of their pets but also of the planet. Our aquamation process uses 90% less energy and produces no harmful emissions, making it a greener choice. What sets us apart is not only our commitment to sustainability but also our dedication to transparency and education—helping families understand the aquamation process and why it’s such a beneficial alternative.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built with our clients. It’s rewarding to know that we’re providing a meaningful service that brings comfort during such a difficult time. For anyone considering aquamation, I’d want them to know that we prioritize compassion, sustainability, and integrity in everything we do, ensuring their pets are treated with the utmost care.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We prioritize staying connected with the families we serve by maintaining an open line of communication through phone, text, and email. This allows us to provide ongoing support even after their pet’s services are completed. We offer guidance on burial and scattering options, as well as resources on grief support groups. Additionally, we connect families with non-profits and shelters that accept donations of pet food, blankets, beds, and collars or leashes, helping them make a meaningful impact in their pet’s honor.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our reputation at Water Bridge Aquamation has been built on a foundation of trust, transparency, and genuine care. By offering an eco-friendly, compassionate alternative for pet aftercare and maintaining open, supportive communication with families, we’ve established ourselves as a business that prioritizes both the well-being of pets and the environment. Our dedication to educating clients about aquamation and guiding them through every step of the process has further solidified our standing in the community.
