We caught up with the brilliant and insightful John Green a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
John, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I can remember making my first tee shirts for my podcast. This was a great achievement for me due to for years buying others peoples clothes. It gave me the incentive to make my own clothes instead of relying on another brand. This gives you a sense of satisfaction knowing that you can put your own creations out in the world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is John Green. I am a Entrepreneur who does a podcast and i also run two online stores, One that deals with vintage clothing and the other is orginal merch produced for the podcast. I got into what i do by meeting alot of cool and creative people which made me want to take things to the next level. I create podcasts, social media reels and merch as well as assisting fellow creatives when i have the chance. I think whats sets me apart is that i do many things. i dont put myself in one category. I wear different hats. I am most proud of the podcast due to how it connects to numerous different kinds of audiences. Everyone has a story and i intend to tell these stories. Too many podcasts are caught in the celebrity chasing. People want to hear about real situations, real struggle and real achievement and my content gives them that.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Just the fact that while doing a podcast you always have to be a patient person. And its sometimes hard to get Guests. Some people say they will come on and never do. This is part of the process. To be able to continue to grow your product and content while enduring this. Ive had many situations where people say they are going to come on the show and they never come on. You have to just turn the page and go on to the next possible Guest.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is seeing people enjoying and getting something from the content. If somebody gets something from the interview then its a win for me. Each one Teach one as they say.
