We caught up with the brilliant and insightful John Frame a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
John, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
When it comes to asking friends and family to support my business I find that I don’t really ask. I have done that before but normally when I ask it doesn’t always happen. I have learned that I don’t really have to ask for support, just continue to push the business and the support will come. My friends and family do support my business but not because I ask them to, they support because they want to!
John, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is John Frame, but I go by Framez. I have a multimedia business. I started out doing video on my phone at events and doing a podcast called The Framez Show. I was in a low place in life and decided to get back into the things that would make me happy. Which is mainly music and entertainment. I started interviewing people when I would go out to events and shooting short videos on my phone. I really enjoyed making videos and telling peoples stories. About a year into doing that I decided to purchase a camera and do videography. I found a passion in telling stories through the lens. This helped me with meeting new people and finding my own happiness again. I now have a production studio and multiple cameras and film equipment. I solve the problem of getting your vision out to the world. Through shooting commercials or doing interviews on the podcast. I get the honor of presenting your brand to the masses. I take pride in getting the best possible quality and and telling stories through video. What sets me apart from most is how I am fully involved with your project. When someone hires me for a video production no matter the size, I am fully invested and always want the best for my clients. I am proud to say that I go above and beyond for whatever project I am working on. I also take pride in the fact that so many people already trust me to give a vision to their ideas. My job is the best because I get to meet new people and use very creative ways to make content that boosts your brand!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In March 2021, I was working on a job in Atlanta. One night after finishing work we all went out to have dinner and hear some live music to celebrate the end of a long shoot. While at the restaurant, someone broke the back window out of my car and stole everything they could grab. Unfortunately that night I had every hard drive I own with all of the content and footage I had ever shot. They took it all. I really thought my business would be finished at that point. How do you come back from that? Well it did bring me down for a bit but I knew that I couldn’t let this event stop me from being great. I always say everything happens for a reason. I lost around $15k worth of equipment and the footage that I lost was priceless. I learned some hard lessons when this happened. It took some time but I did bounce back. Now I have even more video clients and have purchased much more equipment. I think a lot of people may have given up if that happened to them but I know that I wasn’t going to let this stop me. I replaced most of everything that was stolen but I will never be able to get that footage back. To this day I still strive to be great and continue to bigger and better things than I ever have.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I met my business partner Sizzlez back in 2020. I was looking for studio space to shoot my podcast in and he was looking for someone to help create a media team. I came by his studio one day and he was building a set for a mental health podcast. He was doing this all alone and needed some help. I am a helper by nature so I started helping put the set together. It took a lot of hard work but we made it happen and we just clicked. From that day on we were building sets and shooting videos for different clients. Eventually getting our own studio space and growing into a full blown media business.
