We caught up with the brilliant and insightful John Carlevato a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
John, appreciate you joining us today. Is there a historical figure you look up to? Who are they and what lessons or values have you learned from them?
I look up to Jesus in every aspect of my life especially when it comes to business. The values He taught me while He was here on earth influences how I carry myself in the business world. Those values are servanthood, integrity, and trust.
Jesus, the son of God, was humble throughout His life on earth to serve others. He washed His disciples feet, though He was/is their leader. As a business owner of a “service-based business,” it is my job to serve my employees and clients. That’s what a true leader does.
Jesus was a man who had perfect integrity and taught His disciples to do the same. He preached doing all things with your heart (to completion). To achieve this standard, we do not take shortcuts, instead we do all things with our hearts to completion in order to best serve our community with integrity.

John, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am John Carlevato, owner of Winning Streak Windows, a local window cleaning business servicing Knoxville and surrounding counties. I was adopted from Ghana, West Africa, at the age of seven. I became interested in business during my early teens. In May 2023, before I graduated from high school, I started shadowing different business owners to get an idea of what business to start. After research and much thought, I decided to start a window cleaning business.
I noticed a significant need for window cleaning for both commercial and residential properties. Right away, I began to see how much we were helping our community. Our clients take pride in their home or business’s image, but they do not have the time or knowledge to clean their windows properly. Our services save clients from needing window replacements due to neglected maintenance, enhance the property’s curb appeal, and brighten up the living space.

Living in Ghana was very challenging. My family owned a farm, and that was our way of living. As a young boy, I would get up at sunrise, go to the farm, and work sometimes until sundown in the scorching sun of Ghana. It was a very tough situation for a kid to grow up in, but I am thankful for it and have learned so much. My story is a testament to God’s favor. Because of my experience in Ghana, I have learned resilience. Being resilient means you are able to withstand difficult situations and conditions. There is a reason our clients use us over and over and refer us to their friends and family. I have built my business to fit that definition. At Winning Streak Windows, we do not believe in taking shortcuts or degrading the quality of our services when things get hard. We will always see the job to pristine completion and ensure our clients’ satisfaction.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
To build our strong reputation within the window cleaning business world, I focused on three simple but effective practices: being on time, doing what we say we will do, and going above and beyond for our clients. It seems simple enough, but many businesses tend to be late for just about everything. At Winning Streak Windows, we value our clients’ time. Because we realize our clients are investing their hard-earned money in our services, it is important to us to uphold our promises. Yes, we are a window cleaning business, but we value doing complete jobs. Because of this, we clean the frames and sills of the windows and take care of spider webs for all our clients.
