We were lucky to catch up with John Burns recently and have shared our conversation below.
John, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
As a plastic surgeon I am honored to have people trust me with their appearance. In contrast to other areas of medicine and surgery, the results of what I do are clearly evident. Whether it’s a rhinoplasty, mommy makeover, or correcting something about one’s appearance that causes them apprehension, improving their appearance gives them the self confidence to pursue their dreams.

John, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in aesthetic plastic surgeon. The name “Plastic surgery” comes from the Greek root “plastikos: which means to mold or shape which is essence what I do. I got into plastic surgery because of a desire to create beauty and in the process improve the lives of my patients. In the process of practicing plastic surgery, I became a leader in the field and have become president of the largest private practice plastic surgery organization in the United States. I am very proud of our group, Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, and the role we play both locally and nationally.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Excellent in all that we do is what defines me as a plastic surgeon and our group. We hire only board certified AND fellowship trained surgeons who have an extra year of training in a particular subspecialty of plastic surgery. We demand and expect excellent which is what our group is defined by.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
In this age of social medial and constant internet marketing, word of mouth is still our best source of new patients. Happy patients refer to our practice which is our lifeblood.
