We recently connected with Johanna Flores and have shared our conversation below.
Johanna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Once I knew I wanted to venture out on my own and work for myself, I knew that I wanted to do something different for my community and women like myself. Seeing that there was nothing like that around I wanted to help as many women as possible. The gym can be a very intimidating place for many women but I wanted to change that. When I left the big gym I decided to set up a space in my home and start training clients there. Although, it was a small area to work in I wanted to give them an amazing training experience, fun and without the fear and intimidation of a big gym. From there I knew that my approach was the right one, to provide my clients a positive Environment where they did not need to feel intimidated but empowered to reach their goals.

Johanna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Johanna Flores 35 yr old Chicana, mother of 3, Personal Trainer, and Gym Owner. My love for fitness started when I set foot in a gym 12 years ago, I was so intrigued by it and everything that came with it. At the time, I was going through hard times where I was trying to find myself again. The gym became my favorite place to be and my therapy, it made me feel so powerful. As time passed, I became better and better with movements and exercises. I knew there was something special about it and always found myself wanting to learn more. When I found out I can pursue a career in Exercise Science, I was ecstatic. I enrolled in college and began my journey to become a Personal Trainer. My goal was to help other women feel and experience what I did through exercise. I wanted to be knowledgeable in the field to help and guide them to the best of my ability. These past nine years have been incredible, being able to wake up every day and live my purpose. Fit Homegirls Training Gym has now become that place for my clients, where they feel Strong and Powerful. That brings me so much joy. I have built something that I am proud of and plan to continue helping many more women reach the best version of themselves.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My clients mostly come from word of mouth, not social media. Most of them know each other I have best friends, co-workers, cousins, mother daughters training together. It’s a great feeling when other people see the difference when my clients start training at FH Gym. People get curious and start asking about where they go, what it is like, what I have them do. When they see their results and how much they enjoy coming to train, it motivates them to sign up too. I currently have 54 recurring clients that I see 2 to 4x a week. FH Gym is growing! So proud of my FH Family.
