We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Johan Luque a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Johan , appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind Bargonomic’s mission is about my experience as a bartender for nearly 17 years . I noticed a common problem in bars and restaurants – they looked great but weren’t practical for working efficiently. This bothered me, especially with my background in safety engineering. So, I decided to start Bargonomic to make bar stations that not only look good but also keep bartenders healthy and comfortable.
Our mission is to create smart solutions that make work easier for bartenders and keep them safe. It’s all about making bars better places to work in!”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Im Johan Luque, born and raised in Venezuela. Getting into the hospitality scene was a bit of a coincidence for me. While I was studying at university, I stumbled into bartending gigs while job hunting. But you know what? I ended up loving it. It stopped being just a job and turned into a career I was passionate about exploring.
After bartending in a couple of different countries, I eventually landed in St. Augustine, Florida, about four years ago. And that’s when the idea for Bargonomic was born.
Bargonomic came from a simple desire to shake things up in the bar scene. Sure, we offer great service and top-quality products, but what really sets us apart is our commitment to making sure bartenders work efficiently and stay happy and healthy.
I teamed up with Vicente de Paulos, the mastermind behind Barquitecto in Spain. He’s not just a designer, he’s a bartender too. We hit it off right away because we share this passion for making bartenders’ dreams come true by creating their perfect work setups.
Bargonomic might be new to the game, less than a year old actually, but man, the love we’ve been getting from the industry on social media has been incredible. It’s what keeps us going, you know? Knowing that we’re making a real difference in the lives of hospitality workers.
