We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joey HT. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joey below.
Joey, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
From my experience, success comes from a place of determination & drive. Do you capitalize on opportunities? Do you give up when there are obstacles? How bad do you want it? Where do you want to be? Over the past few years of growing & developing my business, I’ve come to experience a plethora of challenges that push me to my limit but yet have been the deciding factor on either quitting or fighting till the end. Success comes from ones willingness to push through hard times and to not let yourself give up on opportunities. Whatever it is that you are doing, always remember what you are working towards.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Joey & I am the Founder of GFR Endeavors, a networking company that works with Exotic & Supercar Brands across the Nation. I got into my industry when I was just 17 years old. Dropping out of college my third year, my closest friends and family telling me that I was on the wrong path but I always thought that I was unorthodox with the way I think. Having a mentor who guided me onto the path of Entrepreneurship, I was driven to curate a life that I’ve always dreamt of. I currently work with Exotic & Supercar dealerships to curate Track Events for their clientele as well as my own clientele.
One thing that I am most proud of is that I never listened to any of the background noise. I chose to take the roads less traveled and built a road for myself that never existed. I started my business locally in Minnesota and as time flew by, I became confident in my skillsets and took my company Nationwide. Four years later, I travel almost once every month to meet with clients, race amazing cars, build an amazing network and experience a whole new world. I’ve never looked back.
If there is one thing that I would like to highlight about my business is that I am the youngest in my industry to be Nationwide.
I am driven to takeover the industry as the best in class. As we continue to improve and increase our standards for our events, we consistently dive into new experiences that are the pinnacle of your adrenaline needs.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
When I started my business, I was working in Finance for OneMain Financial. It was so hard for me to go from Supercars, traveling, an absolute adrenaline high to going back to sitting in a dark, empty desk from 9-5pm. I was driven to scale my business that would allow me to operate full-time. I started this side hustle by uniting people with a common interest and elevating the normal experiences. As time went on, I became confident in my skillsets from learning about my mistakes and failures. I always tell myself that no criticism is negative if you have a different viewpoint, and with a different viewpoint, criticism now becomes a learning experience. A milestone that I will always remember was back in 2019, when I decided to take a jump into the unknown and take my business Nationwide. Based out in Minneapolis Minnesota, I took the company to Atlanta Georgia. Not knowing what the outcome would be, I took a risk that would forever change my life. We had an event down there with a combined worth of over $4.7M in Exotic & Supercars. The lesson that I learned from that milestone was that sometimes taking risks can be terrifying, but you’ll never know the outcome until you try.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Growing up, I was a huge car enthusiasts and like many others, when I got my first job all I did was save up hoping that I would one day buy a cool, fast first car. I would later learn from my mentor what is called “Delayed Gratification”. instead of buying a cool car at a young age, I took whatever little amount of money I had saved up from working and invested it into my dream. Still to this day, I don’t drive anything fancy, the money that I make I reinvest into the business or I take & figure out how I can make money work for me while I am sleeping.
