We were lucky to catch up with Joey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Joey, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Build a relationship … Business is about “Building Forever Clients” and allowing clients the opportunity for the best shopping experience ever. I am very personal with my client; I offer tips, one on one consultation, I get to know my clients outside of this being just a transaction. I am honest and up front about everything I sell. I offer giveaways, gift cards, promo codes and much more. I am building an experience to create these “FOREVER CLIENTS”.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, my name is Joey, AKA Joani. I am the owner of iWear What iWant and I opened by boutique at the height of the pandemic. I have curated the perfect looks to suite your lifestyle and personality. From clothes to accessories, I have the perfect timeless, unique, lux fashions for you. This boutique to about creativity and allowing people to be uniquely themselves, “If you like it, wear it”. What sets by business apart is not necessarily what I sell, but the experience I provide my clients. I am in the business of building forever clients and gaining people’s trust. I want people to be confident in their skin which translate to what they put on. There are no boundaries when it comes to fashion, “wear what you want”. I am most proud to offer my services to the world.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn that success doesn’t happen overnight. You have to put in the work and build relationships to see the results. In my head I want to post a new arrival at 9am and by 8:59am I want to be sold out. I don’t work like that. You have to put in the work.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding my business came from my personal accounts and credit cards. As I started to make consistent sales, I was able to get capital from my ecommerce store.
