Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to JoeLeo Moss. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
JoeLeo, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew as early of the age 6 that I wanted to create something visual that would be admired by many. I hadn’t narrowed in on the what just yet. The what, came at the age of 11 when I discovered my talent for drawing. I’d spend hours drawing my name, team logos, my favorite cartoon and comic characters. I soon learned that symbols and logos were the most frequently seen items in my day to day. So I’d spend more time polishing my drawing skills and began to crate various designs in the style of logos and in some forms of custom typography. This passion would lead me into the pursuit of a Graphic Design major in college. Although I was pursuing a degree Graphic Design in college, college is where my pursuit drew me near Fashion. I would end up meeting one of my closest friends to this and we’d talk fashion on the regular. There was one assignment in particular that indirectly birthed my brand. We were given an option to create a package design. I chose a shopping bag. The bag was fly as hell. I had created a logo for a mock brand called quote gear. I made an A plus by the way on the assignment. Some years would pass and the same friend from college saw the bag at my home. He liked the Logo Design but hated the name. We would end up getting the name of The Good Life Clothing Co. from a random conversation one day. We brainstormed back and forth for days and used the same Typestyle from my bag design to create what you see today as The “GL” Good Life Branded Logo Design.

JoeLeo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I would go on to work in the print and sign industry after college. I began to learn as much as possible about business and how to build and maintain good business relationships. The greatest discipline one can have is consistency. I birthed a brand nearly 20 years ago and never gave up on it. I’ve made numerous improvements on my products as technology has allowed us to communicate the world over. I’m able to have direct and accurate contact with manufacturers about production of my products. I’ve been able to create and execute custom fits to each of my designs. This is very important and allows the brand to stand apart from other brands that have great looks but poor attention to detail. The brand consist of many products. We have several Graphic Tees, Deluxe Fleece Jogger sets with impeccably embroidered logos. I’m currently in the works of completing a Beautiful Floral Print Denim Set. The best seller is our GOOD LIFE Chenille Embroidered Deluxe Fleece Hoodie. My personal favorite is the Custom Fit GL embroidered Leather and Wool Varsity coat. The material and fit combine for a completely Luxurious. I’m most proud of the journey this has been for me. It’s amazing to know you created something from a simple idea and now able to share it all over the world. I want all current and future customers to know that they’ve made a great decision when they’ve purchased from my brand. The quality is there, the fit is there, the look there.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The biggest goal I have today is to land a deal with a large department retailer like a Macy’s. This drives me everyday. So I constantly think of ways to increase my visibility and secure more fans of the brand.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There will be a lot of NO’s! I make sure I get a why, this helps me improve where needed and identify the direction I should go in. I would constantly get feedback from people on my products. Some good, some bad. I would take that feedback and eliminate or reduce the persons reason to tell me no. So if someone didn’t to buy a shirt because it looked hand made, I’d get it professionally made. It forced me to find a better way to create a better product.
