We were lucky to catch up with Joel Urzua recently and have shared our conversation below.
Joel, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission has always been to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered — whether it’s through storytelling, marketing, or helping them find a place to call home. At its core, everything I do is about connection.
That mission really took shape during my time working at Disneyland. There, I learned that great service is more than a job — it’s about creating an experience that touches someone’s life, even for a brief moment. That philosophy has guided me ever since.
Today, I carry that same mindset into my work in the legal and real estate world. At Los Angeles Legal Advocates, I help connect immigrant families to the resources and representation they need to build a better future. Through marketing, I get to humanize the legal process — to tell stories that make people feel understood, not intimidated. And as I work toward my real estate license, my goal is to continue that mission by helping people find not just a house, but a sense of belonging — because to me, Mi Casa es Tu Casa isn’t just a brand name, it’s a way of life.
This mission means so much to me because I’ve seen what happens when people finally feel hope again. When they realize that someone cares, listens, and believes in them — that’s when change begins. That’s why I do what I do.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Joel Urzúa, and I like to say that my career has always revolved around one thing — people. Whether I’m creating marketing strategies for a law firm, helping families connect with immigration services, or preparing to help clients find their dream homes through real estate, my work is about building trust, telling stories, and making people feel seen.
My journey started at Disneyland, where I learned the foundation of everything I do today: service with heart. Working there taught me how powerful it is to create meaningful moments for others — moments that can turn an ordinary experience into something unforgettable. That lesson stayed with me and became the foundation for how I approach every opportunity that comes my way.
Eventually, my path led me to the legal world, where I now work as part of the marketing team at Los Angeles Legal Advocates, an immigration and personal injury law firm. My role goes beyond marketing — I represent the voice of the firm. I create campaigns, record live videos, handle events, and connect directly with clients to make sure they understand their options and feel supported throughout the process. I’m proud that my work helps families access free consultations, learn their rights, and take their first steps toward a safer and more stable life.
At the same time, I’m pursuing my real estate license and building my brand, Mi Casa es Tu Casa Realty. The name reflects what I believe in — that a home is more than four walls; it’s where people feel welcomed, understood, and safe. My goal is to bridge my background in communication and client care with real estate, helping people find not just a property, but a place where they truly belong.
What sets me apart is my combination of empathy, creativity, and drive. I don’t see marketing, law, or real estate as separate industries — I see them as platforms to serve. I bring storytelling into business, authenticity into marketing, and compassion into every client interaction. I believe in showing up fully, whether it’s presenting on stage for our firm, meeting a client for the first time, or creating content that educates and inspires.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve earned from the people I work with — from the clients who thank us for giving them hope, to my team who knows I’ll always find a creative solution no matter how last-minute things get.
What I want people to know about me and my work is simple: I’m someone who believes that service is a calling. My goal is to keep growing in both law and real estate while continuing to create opportunities that empower others. At the end of the day, I’m just someone who believes that when you lead with heart, everything else falls into place.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what’s helped me build my reputation has been my consistency, authenticity, and genuine care for people. I always show up with the mindset of “How can I help?” — whether it’s for a client, a coworker, or a community event.
I’ve become known for delivering results quickly while keeping everything creative and personal. I take pride in representing the firm at public events, creating marketing campaigns from scratch, recording videos, and connecting with clients face-to-face. I think people can sense when your work comes from the heart — and that’s what builds trust.
Another thing that’s helped me is my storytelling approach. Because of my background in performance and communication, I know how to capture attention and emotion. When I create content, I’m not just promoting a service — I’m sharing a story that people can relate to. That’s what makes the brand feel human.
But more than anything, I believe my reputation comes from doing what I say I’m going to do. Whether it’s preparing a full presentation in 24 hours or supporting a client through a difficult process, I follow through — and people remember that.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been combining authenticity with consistency. In today’s world, people connect more with real stories than with polished ads — so I focus on creating content that feels personal, informative, and genuine.
In my role I’ve learned that the key isn’t just advertising, but educating. Through live videos, social media, and community events, I help our audience understand their rights and feel supported — especially in areas like immigration, where information can be confusing or intimidating. By staying visible both online and in person, we’ve built a sense of trust that naturally leads to growth.
I also believe visibility is key. From sponsoring cultural events to showing up at local festivals, being part of the community helps people see that we’re approachable and human. Sometimes people may not need your help right away, but they remember how you made them feel — and that makes all the difference.
At the end of the day, my strategy is simple: show up, be real, and add value. When people see that you care more about helping them than selling to them, growth happens naturally.
