Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joe with The Flow. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Joe with, thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I generally make enough from my creative works to keep food on the table. There are times where I have to supplement it with another gig type of job like Uber, but if you love to create what more could you ask for than being able to provide by doing so? It certainly hasn’t always been like this, and please don’t make the mistake of thinking that only one creative income stream will get the job done. Even our favorite artists don’t just do one thing. My main income streams are songwriting, music streams and gigs where I play the guitar. Playing an instrument helps. I had to build these overtime by building connections with other artists, staying consistent and focused on a singular goal of earning money through making music and making sure my paperwork is in order to put myself in the best position to get paid from whatever I’m doing. The only thing that could truly speed it up or slow it down is how badly you want to do it at any given time. I will say though that relationships are far more important than we think
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started out as just a rapper. Adding singing and playing guitar to my repertoire has earned me more money than the former ever could. For clients I can write songs of any genre, do background vocals and guitar accompaniments for their live music and sometimes even provide percussion. I’ve done gigs all over the city for all kinds of artists but I’m probably most known for my appearance on Netflix rhythm and flow which ironically is for rapping which I do the least nowadays. that being said I am very good at it while still being able to create any acoustic musical experience you’d like.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There’s a spiritual reawakening of sorts happening on the planet right now. The vibration of the planet is rising encouraging people to engage in more creative pursuits or align themselves with more meaningful experiences in general. My mission and/or goal is to aid and facilitate in the expansion of consciousness and the opening of the heart space so that people can live in those realities.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love being able to create impactful experiences for people and enjoy the relationships that blossom as a result. when people tell me that my music helped them get through a bad day, made them feel better or taught them something it makes me feel as though what I’m doing is not in vain. Ultimately I want to help people so if I can do that with the power of my voice then I am fulfilled
