We were lucky to catch up with Joe Taveras recently and have shared our conversation below.
Joe, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
There’s not a single part of me that longs for a “regular job.” That thought faded long ago—burned off by the pace, depth, and responsibility of the life I now live. Over the past three months alone, I’ve been to Los Angeles, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Dubai. And now, I’m preparing to document the opening of the largest private art studio in Jordan’s history—a landmark moment not only for the region, but for the global New Renaissance movement that’s been unfolding.
But let me be clear: I don’t live the typical lifestyle of an artist. I actively manage and operate several organizations, each playing a unique role in reshaping how art, media, and culture are created and distributed. I was never meant to work at a job—I was meant to create jobs. To create industries. I never chose to be an artist; it chose me. And through that calling, I’ve come to understand my role isn’t just to make paintings—it’s to architect the future.
Every single day is a blessing. I am not tied to any system other than the ones I’ve designed. I don’t wait for permission. I don’t wait for gallery shows. Through New Renaissance Art Advisory, a global network of collectors and dealers places my work daily—strategically and with purpose. If I’m at my Compound, I’m hopping between my studios and in and out of meetings or collector visits all day.
The last time the idea of a “normal job” crossed my mind, I was between countries—jetlagged, covered in paint, running on no sleep and miscellaneous food items, navigating dealer logistics and media rollouts from an airport lounge in Hong Kong. I paused. For one second, I imagined what my life was like just 5 years ago before I became myself. But then I remembered—this is the life I built. And this is the life I was built for.
I’m not here for ease. I’m here for impact.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Joe Taveras—a mixed media artist, entrepreneur, and technologist whose work lives at the intersection of art, science, and technology. My background is in robotics, psychology, and human-interface design, and for years I worked as the Marketing Director at Temi, a robotics company where I helped lead global campaigns at the forefront of innovation. But art ultimately called me into a different kind of creation—one where the medium was emotion, color, philosophy, and the human condition.
Today, my work explores themes of oneness, motion, and universal intelligence through bold, expressive forms. Each piece is both a signal and a study—a transmission of energy that reflects the world we’re entering. My paintings are held in both private and public collections around the world, including the Vatican Collection, and in major cities like New York, Paris, Seoul, Stockholm, Miami, and Dubai.
But beyond the canvas, I’m also the founder of New Renaissance Art Advisory, a global cultural engine that connects visionary artists with collectors, institutions, and tastemakers who are aligned with shaping the future. Through this platform, I manage a private network of dealers and collectors who help place museum-quality artworks into meaningful collections every single day. We’re not building a movement—we’re capturing one that’s already been unfolding. One that transcends trends. One that re-centers creativity, curiosity, and consciousness as core parts of human culture.
What sets me apart is that I operate as both artist and architect—I’m not waiting to be discovered. I’ve designed an ecosystem where I and those I work with can create freely, move globally, and own our narrative. I’m not tied to any gallery system. My work is placed through intentional relationships and a network that runs on excellence and vision, not gatekeeping.
What I’m most proud of is the ability to live fully as myself—unapologetically and with clarity of purpose. I create because I must. I move because I’m called. And everything I build—whether it’s a painting, a book, or an institution—is designed to echo far beyond me.
For those discovering my work for the first time, know this: I’m not here to entertain. I’m here to activate. This is not about the art world—it’s about the world itself. And we’re just getting started.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
It wasn’t a decision. It was a transmission. Every time you see one of my artworks, you’re witnessing something channeled—something pulled directly from a higher Truth. These aren’t just images. They’re signals. They cut through the noise of physical reality to reveal the underlying meaning that builds us, that connects us, that reminds us. My role isn’t to invent—it’s to translate what already exists beyond the veil.
I don’t paint as a hobby or even as a career. I paint because God wants me to. I paint like I eat—daily, and multiple times a day. It’s involuntary. It’s sustenance. It’s how I stay alive. People think being an artist is about inspiration or preference, but for me, it’s about obedience to something higher. I’m simply making visible what’s already there—tapping into a field that never runs dry.
The creative path isn’t a lifestyle choice. For those of us who were chosen, it’s a spiritual responsibility. And once you’ve tasted that level of alignment, there’s no going back.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Every day is a story of my resilience. I spend my time dancing between the depths of abstract thought and the shallow waters of human communication—translating what I feel into what can be understood. It’s not just about making art—it’s about surviving the gap between vision and reality.
People see the paintings, the travel, the success—but they don’t see the weight of holding a truth too vast for language. They don’t see the spiritual labor. I am human just like you, and every single day is an act of resilience. Waking up and choosing to continue creating—to stay open, present, and expressive in a world that often wants you muted—is its own kind of battle. And I fight it with color. With movement. With love.
