We recently connected with Joe Rivello and have shared our conversation below.
Joe, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar your firm earns is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
The first client I got was a friend that I knew very well. I had lost contact with him for some years but he messaged me after he saw I was in the industry and how active I was on social media. He and his wife were looking to purchase their first home and had lots of questions about the process and what to do. As someone who was taking on their first client, I was both excited and nervous because buying a home is such a big deal and I didn’t want to make any mistakes. At the same time working with someone I knew well was comforting because they would be a little more forgiving of mistakes than someone who didn’t know me at all. I put all the things I had learned into practice and walked them through the mortgage loan process. They are now proud homeowners and have been loving it!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the mortgage business in the beginning of 2020. Up until that point I had excelled in financial services such as credit consultation, consolidation loans and debt management. I felt that I wanted something of my own; my own practice. I had always worked for a company and was at the graces of someone else. I knew with my work ethic and drive I could make my own business. It’s taken a lot of work but I wouldn’t have it any other way! What sets me apart from other loan officers is that my clients always have my undivided attention, I give my clients choice and expert advice, I always look out for their best interests, I’m available 24/7, and I’m constantly giving updates through out the loan originating process. Aside from that I’m very active on all social media platforms. With me they are getting a fast, easy, personable and top notch service. I build long-lasting and strong relationships that drive referrals.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I have always had a interest in graphic design. Actually, in my late teens early 20’s I wanted to be a graphic designer! I incorporated that knowledge into branding myself. I created my own logo, my own designs, marketing, and social media posts. If I had to give some advice for someone just starting to build their social media presence it would be to be authentic, don’t worry about how many likes you get, and to be consistent. Things will eventually snowball and continue to grow for you. Just because you aren’t getting tons of likes on your posts doesn’t mean anything. People see you and know you’re out there.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch using a CRM that I built completely myself. It’s a massive database of all my clients, family, friends, and business partners. It took a lot of work, but keeping it organized makes things very easy to stay on top of. I like making things very personal and go a step further so I will send clients and partners greeting cards, e-mails, and calls through out the year. This shows your clients how professional and that you care. It’s the little things and going that extra mile that makes them clients for life.
