Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joe Nicastro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joe, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
As an accident lawyer, every case is a calculated risk. It’s a profession that demands standing up for people from all walks of life, investing resources into the fight, and taking on powerful insurance companies and corporations. Of all the cases we’ve handled, one case stands out—a high-stakes battle against one of the most recognizable names in the industry: Domino’s Pizza.
In 2019, a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver, under pressure to meet delivery deadlines, was speeding and driving recklessly. The urgency to deliver pizza on time came at a dangerous cost. The driver crashed into our client’s car with such force that her vehicle was pushed off the road and into a fire hydrant, completely dislodging it. It was clear that the driver’s actions—fueled by corporate demands—were directly responsible for the crash and our client’s injuries.
Our legal team immediately got to work, uncovering crucial internal data from Domino’s. This data revealed that the company’s delivery requirements were not only unsafe but also set unrealistic goals that pressured drivers to engage in reckless behavior on the road. The evidence was damning, but the insurance company refused to back down, fighting us every step of the way. With every new legal hurdle, the stakes grew higher—countless hours of work, rising costs, and the ever-present uncertainty of how it would all turn out even though our firm fights hard and wins big.
Despite the odds, we refused to back down. Through relentless determination and unwavering belief in our client’s case, we secured a settlement over 20 times the amount the insurance company initially argued was fair—exceeding $1 million. This victory not only delivered justice for our client but also set a powerful precedent for car crash victims. It sent a clear message: corporate greed and unsafe practices can never outweigh public safety. Above all, this case reaffirmed a simple truth—without risk, there can be no reward. And here the reward was winning big—securing life-changing compensation for our client and knowing that justice was served in a way that truly made a difference.
Joe, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Partner at Cantor, Wolff, Nicastro & Hall LLC, where we represent individuals across New York and Pennsylvania who have been injured due to someone else’s negligence. As a personal injury lawyer, I’ve dedicated my entire career to standing up for injured people and their families, fighting against powerful insurance companies to secure the maximum results they deserve. As a founding member of my law firm, I’ve recovered millions of dollars for my clients, helping them rebuild their lives after devastating accidents.
What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve made—not just through the results we achieve, but by being a voice for those who feel powerless. When someone is injured, their entire world is turned upside down. They’re often left to fight insurance companies alone, only to be taken advantage of at their most vulnerable. That’s where we step in. What sets our firm apart is our relentless commitment to fighting hard and winning big for our clients. Beyond the courtroom, our work makes a lasting difference—we help create a safer world by holding negligent parties accountable, addressing dangerous conditions, and holding insurance companies accountable.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A few years ago, two young sisters endured relentless bullying at school simply because of their appearance. Day after day, these innocent girls were tormented by their peers, with no one in the school system to turn to for help. The very place that should have been their safe haven—their school—betrayed them and turned a blind eye. The school failed these girls at every turn, leaving them and their parents to face this nightmare alone until we stepped in. In New York, the “Dignity for All Students Act” (DASA) protects students from bullying, to ensure that every child learns in a safe and supportive environment. Yet, in this case, the school shamefully ignored its responsibilities under DASA. We couldn’t stand by and let this injustice continue. Our team meticulously dissected the school district’s rules and the protections guaranteed under DASA, uncovering every safeguard that should have been in place but wasn’t. Armed with this knowledge, we fought relentlessly for our clients and showed that it was the school’s negligence that had caused these young girls unimaginable pain and suffering. The school fought tooth and nail, and even blamed our clients for what happened. Nevertheless, we forced this school district to pay massive damages, a number so big that it will ensure this district and others like it never dare to let this happen again to their students. Winning this case is a true testament to resilience.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Doing an exceptional job, communicating effectively with my clients and delivering real results. As an accident lawyer, I know my clients are facing the most challenging times of their lives. That’s why I make it a priority to treat every case with care, keep my clients informed, and fight relentlessly to get them the justice they deserve. Beyond that, I’ve built trust in my market by delivering positive outcomes, whether it’s securing settlements or winning hard-fought cases in court. At the end of the day, my reputation is built on hard work, transparency, and always putting my clients first.
