We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Joe Major a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Joe , thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Consistency and delusion are the recipes for success. I say consistency because there’s takes a certain amount of relentlessness to become whatever your definition of successful is. Delusion because a lot of times our success lies outside the reasoning of most peoples understanding so the type of focus you have to have is almost fictional when trying to reach goals,

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So my journey has been unconventional. Although my love and passion for entertaining started as a child, I did not start focusing in on how To make a life out of it until the latter part of my high school years when I decided I wanted to become an A&R. Following the path to Nashville via Tennessee State University it is here that I would lay the groundwork for things to come. This particular position inspired me because it is perfect for those who have the skill set of the creative they are be responsible for, but yet the business understanding to take to the next level. on the journey to be an A&R I have become a expert level nightlife specialist, organizing concerts involving artist like Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B Migos, Lloyd, 2 Chainz to curating large scale, happy hours College parties and more. Nashville has been the base for my growth as a professional creative in the nightlife space also giving me an opportunity to do creative consulting for independent artist in this region as well. This also branched into my career with iHeartRadio via 101.1 the beat a hip-hop station in Nashville, which I have radio personality, merch, designer, and promotion specialist for the last 9 years. All of these things have granted me opportunity to host nightlife based events overseas, in Punta, Cana, Dominican Republic, and Montego Bay Jamaica, I’ve also gotten the opportunity to work with major brands as an ambassador and influencer for 7-Eleven Amazon Slim and huskies and other businesses in this region. never losing sight of the goal to become and A&R in the music industry

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In February 2021 I was involved in a hit and run accident that shattered the bottom part of my right leg, After three surgeries and about five months of not being able to walk, I focused on one of the few things that could help me mentally get through this rough time which is event creation So that year… I organized Nashville‘s largest bonfire event BLK.FIER

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Progression and empowerment are what drives me; to know that the things that I am capable of doing now are the director result of the things I was not able to do then inspires me. Because of this process am able to empower those who seek knowledge or opportunity.
