We were lucky to catch up with Joe Heath recently and have shared our conversation below.
Joe, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents always encouraged me to pursue my creative endeavors. They would act in my films. They would grab a mic or a camera. They’d make props. My dad would make posters. They have helped in pretty much every way possible from financial to emotional. And they still do!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been making videos since I was a teenager. I’ve made a feature length film, several short films, and a couple of web series. I’ve also branched out to writing or co-writing comics, screenplays, pilots, and novels. Pretty much all of these are available to check out on my website, MintyPineapple.com. In addition to all the free videos, I also have a store with comics like the horror western Ghost Town with art by Pirate Penguin Vs. Ninja Chicken’s Ray Friesen and the comedy adventure Tugboats Are Cool with art by my father Brad Heath. I have also co-written a couple of novels under the name J.B. Hivemind including the comedic fantasy The Princess and the Pterodactyls and the truly epic and weird buddy comedy adventure Road Trippy. I’m particularly proud of Road Trippy as it’s the kind of story I’ve always loved and wanted to tell. I’ve adapted it into a screenplay that has been racking up laurels on the festival circuit and has even attracted the attention of a couple of film producers!

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Pay them! So many people want to get creative work without compensating the artists who make them. But a lot of time, energy, and effort goes into these works, especially things for commissions or a client. Do not undervalue that.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to transition into doing creative work full-time. I’ve been making my way there through things like Patreon and launching a store on my website. I would really like to get an agent and/or a manager to push my career to even further heights.
