We recently connected with Joe Callari and have shared our conversation below.
Joe, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.” – Steve Jobs
Any decision in life is risky, 98% of people decide to take the risk of doing what is easy and convenient now, only making their life harder in the end down the road.
“The reason most people fail instead of succeed is they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment.” – Napoleon
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my online fitness coaching business in 2016 after getting certified in personal training, nutrition, and strength/conditioning. It has not been an easy road by any means but every day I thank God for giving me the courage to never give up on my dreams.
Without my friends and family to support me on this journey and knowing that God has my back, I was able to build Heartletics into one of the BEST coaching programs for men over 40 looking to transform themselves physically and mentally.
It was incredibly difficult in the beginning. In my first year of coaching I was in the red and down over 50k, in the second year, I was in the red and down 30k, in my third year I broke even but my account told me I should hang it up and shut down my business…
One week later I fired him and took my last 10k in savings to invest in a business coach. He taught me how to grow and scale my business to where it is today making an impact on thousands of men. Heartletics’ mission is to make the world a better place and help inspire men to become leaders in this world for their families and communities.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Understanding the power of your mindset, that will always be the most helpful tips for anyone in ANY field. Once you learn how your mindset works and what you can do to improve your mindset, there is NOTHING that can stop you from having success.
Any advice for managing a team?
Knowing the difference between a boss vs. a leader. A boss will tell you what to do, while a leader shows and directs the way. A boss blames, while a leader accepts all responsibilities (even when it’s not your mistake).
