We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jody Boehmer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jody, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I believe it takes a great deal of determination and resilience. There will be times when you stumble, but the key is to pick yourself up and keep moving forward. The saying “no risk, no reward” rings true—success often requires taking calculated risks. Many successful people have faced moments where they had to put something on the line to achieve their goals. The rewards may not come immediately, but with persistence and unwavering effort, success will follow. It also demands a significant investment of time and dedication to truly excel in what you’re passionate about.

Jody, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not be familiar with my journey, I’m a versatile social media content creator and graphic designer, working across multiple platforms. I specialize in creating compelling ads and UGC (User-Generated Content) videos for brands, along with product photography that showcases their offerings in the best light.
What sets me apart is my ability to craft visually engaging and strategic content that resonates with audiences, whether it’s through stunning graphics, captivating videos, or beautiful product imagery. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with a wide range of incredible brands over the years, from iconic beauty names that I’ve loved and used for as long as I can remember to emerging brands just starting their journey. Watching these brands grow and evolve has been a truly rewarding experience.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with these brands and the impact my work has had in helping them connect with their audiences. It’s an honor to contribute to their success, and I’m excited to continue creating and collaborating in the future.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media is definitely a challenge, but it’s incredibly rewarding. I started on Instagram, and one of the most important things I learned is the value of genuine engagement. Connecting with others, whether it’s your followers or the brands you admire, is crucial. Don’t just post—interact. Comment, like, and share content from the brands you want to collaborate with, and make sure to tag them in your posts. This not only gets you noticed but also builds relationships.
Using the right hashtags is another powerful tool to reach your target audience. They help your content get discovered by people who are genuinely interested in what you offer. I’ve also found that participating in and hosting giveaways is a great way to give back to your audience and show appreciation for their support, while also attracting new followers.
But above all, persistence is key. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s important to stay consistent and keep putting in the effort. Keep refining your approach, stay true to your brand, and most importantly, enjoy the journey of growing your presence on social media.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
As a creative, one of the challenges that non-creatives might not fully grasp is the concept of “creative burnout.” It’s similar to what writers experience with writer’s block, but it can be even more intense, especially when you’re working under tight deadlines. There are moments when the creativity just isn’t there, and that can be incredibly tough when your work relies on fresh ideas and innovation.
When I’m feeling uninspired, I’ve learned the importance of stepping away and changing my environment. Taking a break allows me to reset and find new sources of inspiration. It’s crucial to understand that creativity isn’t something you can force—it needs time and space to flourish. This process of stepping back and recharging is essential for maintaining the quality and originality of the work I produce.
