Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jodie Kennedy-Aguina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jodie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
My brand differs from the industry standard because I provide a client first environment. I pride myself on putting my clients first because they shouldn’t feel like a number when they book an appointment, it should be an experience. I am able to create this environment by keeping open communication with each client, never over booking and making sure I am always on time to each appointment.

Jodie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started doing my own nails during the pandemic and fell in love with nail art. I wanted to create a career doing what I love, creating nail art and making people feel beautiful. Currently, I offer nail care services such as manicures, pedicures and nail enhancement services (Acrylic/Gel X). Along with nail care services I also sale essential care products and accessories. I love connecting with my clients during appointments. I love listening to what’s going on in their lives and giving them advise. I’m most proud of my work ethic and how I have made it a priority to give back by donating to charities monetary and providing free services. I want anyone reading this to know that I stand by my brand, I take pride in what I do and most importantly I care about how my clients feel and what they think about the service I provide.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I still work a full-time job outside of running my business and as a nail tech I was always advised to not quit my job right away and I’m glad I listened. The benefit in working a full-time job is that you can use money from that job to fund your business as you go. I have also learned that if you have a good relationship with your bank or credit union, they will most likely fund you to jump start your business.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been consistently promoting my work. I promote my nail on social media, I carry business cards on me everywhere I go and most importantly I treat my current clients right, so word of mouth goes a long way.
