Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jodi Novak. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jodi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
Honestly, it started really simply. My sister had just made a page for her dog, and at the same time, I had just brought Flynn home as a puppy. He was so tiny and curious, and of course, I was already taking hundreds of photos of him. We were already snapping so many pictures of our dogs that one day we just thought, why not share them with the world?
At first, it was purely for fun — posting our favorite photos, little updates, and silly moments. But pretty quickly, people started connecting with us. They’d comment, share their own stories, and it just turned into this community of people who love their dogs as much as we do.
Eventually, our pack grew. We adopted Diesel — rest in peace, sweet boy — and later brought Annabelle home. Every dog we’ve had has brought their own personality and joy into the mix, and that’s really shaped what TheCovePack is today.
We’re still learning new things every single day, and honestly, that’s the fun part of social media for me. I have the creativity to change things up, add new ideas, and just see where it goes. What started as a “hey, let’s post cute dog pics” moment has grown into something that’s not just ours anymore — it’s something we share with so many amazing people.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jodi Novak, and I run TheCovePack, where I share the everyday lives, adventures, and silly personalities of my dogs with a community of fellow pet lovers. By day, I’m a librarian, so I’ve always had a love for stories — and this is just another way I get to tell them, except my main characters have wagging tails and wet noses.
The idea for TheCovePack started pretty naturally. My sister had just made a page for her dog, and around the same time, I brought home Flynn as a puppy. He was so tiny, full of personality, and already taking over my camera roll. We were snapping hundreds of photos, and one day we thought, why not share them with the world?
Since then, our pack has grown. We adopted Diesel — rest in peace, sweet boy — and later brought Annabelle home. Each of them has their own quirks and charm, and that’s what I love capturing: the real moments. The goofy grins, the muddy paws, the snuggles on the couch — all the little things that make life with dogs so special.
What started as just posting cute pictures has grown into something bigger. Now I share content other dog owners connect with — from everyday snapshots to honest product reviews, tips we’ve learned, and collaborations with brands we truly love and trust. I’m proud that TheCovePack has always stayed genuine. I only share things I’d use for my own dogs, because I value the trust we’ve built with our community.
I think what makes us different is that we’re not trying to be perfect. We’re just a real-life pack sharing our real-life moments — the joy, the chaos, and everything in between. I’m so proud of the little family we’ve built here, both furry and human. This community is full of people who love their dogs as much as I do, and being able to share that love every day is something I’m so grateful for.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media was definitely a gradual process, and honestly, it started out just for fun. I was already taking hundreds of photos of Flynn as a puppy, and later Diesel and Annabelle joined the mix, so sharing their personalities and everyday moments felt natural. I didn’t have a big plan at first — I just posted consistently, shared what felt authentic, and interacted with other dog lovers who were enjoying the content.
One of the biggest things I learned early on is that engagement is everything. It’s not just about posting cute pictures; it’s about connecting with people. I respond to comments, chat with followers in DMs, and really try to make the page feel like a little community where people belong. Over time, those small connections added up and my audience grew organically.
Consistency is another key piece. Posting regularly, showing up in stories, and keeping the content fresh keeps people coming back. I also experiment a lot — trying new formats, different types of content, and seeing what resonates with the community. Social media gives me the freedom to be creative and evolve, and I think that authenticity is what really attracts followers.
For anyone just starting out, my biggest advice would be: start with what you love, be consistent, and focus on building real connections rather than just chasing numbers. It takes time, but when you share what you’re genuinely passionate about, the right audience will find you.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely. The mission behind TheCovePack is really simple: to share the joy, love, and little moments that dogs bring into our lives, while creating a community where other dog lovers feel at home. I want people to feel like they’re part of our pack — whether they’re laughing at a silly photo, learning about a new product we genuinely love, or just enjoying a little escape from their day through our content.
For me, it’s not about chasing numbers or trends. It’s about authenticity, connection, and celebrating the everyday magic of life with dogs. Every post, every story, every interaction is driven by that goal — to spread happiness, build community, and share the unconditional love these animals give us.
