We recently connected with Jodi Mason and have shared our conversation below.

Jodi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?

The most important thing I learned at a previous job that translates as an artist is to be inclusive. I wanted to somehow be able to connect with everyone on some small level. I didn’t want to just focus on one area, but to be able to tell reach everyone. I wanted everyone to feel included when they listen to my podcast.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am a podcaster who talks about everything Florida. The podcast, That Florida Feeling, was started in 2021 while I was laid off due to what was going on in the world at the time. I was bored and wanted a new project. I had many different ideas, but I kept going back to Florida.

I started out just being on Spotify, but now you can find me on most major podcast platforms. I try to talk about everything in Florida from beaches, small towns, the history, and of course Florida Man.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

I wish I had visited more forums, groups, and pushing my podcast on all social media platforms. Social Media is basically free advertising so I wish I had been more aware of all the places I could advertise the podcast.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding thing has been the friends that I have made along the way. I started the podcast without knowing who would listen to me and I began to get emails or comments such as “I really love your podcast!” Or “I can’t wait to visit because of what you mentioned.”. I also began to talk to people who had truly become friends over the last few years. The fact that I can even make someone’s day a little better is truly rewarding for me.
