We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jodi Harary a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jodi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
My industry is interesting because there are a ton of people in the healing world who read too many self help books and think they can help others without doing any work on themselves . I love self-help books, I think they can bring introspection and clarity, but without practice they are just a temporary fix or diversion from pain; an avoidance for some who rely too heavily on them. I see people coming in for psychic development training who think when they are finished they will be immune to being a human if they only practice hard enough. But as Adyashanti explains “The primary task of any good spiritual teaching is not to answer your questions, but to question your answers.” I use this statement to show that spirituality is all about experiencing our lives as they are in the now. Of course looking at or observing who we were in the past can be helpful to see where our patterns come from. But the real work, In my opinion, is taking the action in the present to work on our behaviors as they emerge.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
With over two decades of experience in the healing arts, I bring a diverse skill set encompassing massage therapy, Reiki, intuitive readings, spiritual therapy, and teaching intuition development. Based in Carlsbad, California, I have established a thriving practice centered around guiding individuals towards self-discovery and empowerment.
My approach is deeply rooted in practicality and logic, allowing me to seamlessly integrate intuitive insights into real-life applications for my clients. I take pride in the organic growth of my business, predominantly fueled by word-of-mouth referrals, a testament to the satisfaction and trust of my clientele.
Central to my practice is the belief that effective healing requires genuine connection and understanding. I strive to meet each individual where they are, fostering an environment of openness and receptivity. Through active listening and empathetic engagement, I guide clients on their journey towards self-love and personal growth.
While I do not identify as an evidential medium, my strong intuitive connection and healing abilities contribute to transformative experiences for those I serve. My business is founded on a heart-centered approach, dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate their unique paths towards fulfillment and wholeness.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearning the need to conform to others expectations was a pivotal lesson for me, both personally and professionally. While it once provided a sense of belonging and acceptance, I ultimately recognized that authenticity was the key to truly connecting with and helping others.
In my journey as a business owner, I initially felt compelled to adhere to a predetermined image or persona. However, I soon realized that this approach not only hindered my ability to attract and retain clients but also compromised my integrity. It became evident that my true mission was to empower individuals to embrace themselves fully.
Shifting my focus towards active listening and genuine empathy allowed me to forge deeper connections with my clients. Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual’s journey, I acknowledged the importance of respecting their diverse backgrounds and experiences. Embracing humility, I understood that my role was not to fix or dictate but to facilitate growth and self-discovery collaboratively.
By prioritizing authenticity and empathy in my interactions, I have cultivated a business environment where clients feel seen, heard, and supported in their pursuit of personal well being. This commitment to genuine connection has not only enriched my professional endeavors but also reaffirmed my purpose in helping others feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
In my line of work, the most effective means of acquiring clients is through word-of-mouth referrals. Despite experimenting with advertising, social media, and other conventional methods of self-promotion, I’ve found that my website remains the primary platform for showcasing my services. However, the bulk of my revenue consistently originates from referrals. This trend, I suspect, stems from the deeply personal and intimate connections I cultivate with my clients. I firmly believe that individuals place greater trust in recommendations from acquaintances than in merely stumbling upon my online presence.
