We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jocelyn Sevier. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jocelyn below.
Hi Jocelyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
KaoticKlone Productions started out as an audio production company. We produced beats and music for musicians. I have a record label that had myself and a number of artists on it. When it came to creating music videos the cost was crazy. Obviously the more professional the more it cost. My label is called Selfmademuzik. So I invested in myself as I always have. Went and bought camera equipment. We made a few videos then I bought a green screen setup with lights. Took classes in person at different colleges, and learned from online classes and or resources. Then we officially got into tv and film.
My entrepreneurial spirit continues to grow. Now we are looking to work with clients that need music videos, commercials, and product placement videos. KaoticKlone Productions also specializes in niche videos as well. It was definitely a long journey but we have a solid team of directors, writers, and cinematographers, Because we know the feeling of being independent we can work with all types of budgets.
Jocelyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My story is long and will play out put in my music and films. But there’s nothing more successful than using every way imaginable to use your voice. I get to speak to people through my music, tv-series, films, and my books. I knew the journey would be long and difficult. I’m not from an affluent family. By the time I was 12 I knew how this world worked. Already knew what I was for this world and what it needed. Like those before me, the revolution will be televised. And the music will speak for itself!
Creativity runs through my soul, not wanting to be like everyone made me learn how to think outside the box. My dad was a DJ & musician, and my mother worked at CBS for a number of years. Between the both of them, I was exposed to the arts at a young age. Like most musicians, I grew up in the church choir. By the time I was in junior high school, I was getting paid to DJ and joined our school band. During my junior high years, I was also taking videography classes. High school came around I was recording music demos, and enhancing my photography and videography skills.
Before I graduated high school, I knew I wanted to be self-employed. Why work hard to make someone else’s dream come true? While everyone was freaking out about the SATs, I was looking for a trade school. When I learned the first two years of college are like accelerated high school courses with extra classroom etiquette. I just wanted to get through college right away and begin my field of study. Once I was done with school I started plotting and planning. I knew it would take time. I didn’t have the resources others had and like a lot of people, family obligations came first.
In 2005 I started my computer company Tech Tron Computers, and in 2006 my radio station UR Radio (Underground Revolution Radio) was born. A couple of years later I started my record label Selfmademuzik. Then my mind went into overdrive once I figured out how to utilize the internet for my benefit and without spending money on marketing. Entrepreneur with no budget makes a way to survive any climate, that’s me.
KaoticKlone Productions begin as an audio production company, now it’s a growing film production company. We have offices in San Diego & Las Vegas opening soon. We have an amazing cast and crew in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. We aren’t a major studio yet but our goal is to buy some acres in San Diego and Las Vegas. Our cast members on our shows are encouraged to give suggestions. Johnson & Robunson is our first comedy series that will be released in June 2022. We had some cast members help with episode concepts, filming, and even editing. Agent 24 and Clean My Plate are next up for us. Agent 24 is a sci-fi crime drama series and Clean My Plate is a sci-fi drama limited short film series.
What I figured out, was how to utilize every idea into one household factor. I watch the economy and corporate America. Because of that, KaoticKlone Productions flourished through a pandemic. We have a project on hold for funding but we are still here filming and creating others. Our first feature film The Heart To Fight is 50% completed and during a pandemic. We just need a little push to get that project to completion. Two things have kept moving forward throughout the years. My mother loves to be involved in what I’m doing and my father’s words to me. ” I get it. I finally get it. You aren’t meant for a 9-5!”
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A legacy. Being able to feed and educate my family for generations is what drives me. My daily motivation is to harvest whatever knowledge I can, not just for survivial. For longevity. The feeling of owning a business, inventing, building, and creating is magical. The love and support I have garnered from everyone around me add to my motivation.
My mission is not only to make a way for my family but for all people. First I would start here in my local community and grow. Then one day I hope to be able to build a town for those that need one. Bring water in for a town that can’t get water. Philanthropy is also a part of my legacy. I want 1000 generations from now to still provide aid for those in need.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I wait for no one! This is my model. I worked 2-3 jobs and turned my side hustles and hobbies into income. Then I invested in myself. If you don’t invest in yourself, why would someone else? I was able to get help from those around me at times. Then friends and family started asking me what was next and what I needed. Every time I spoke to someone I had increased my hustle. You can see equipment being purchased and services being paid for. My education increased in my hustles and my hobbies became hustles as time went by.
Today, I live by the same creed. I still want to attain funding but while I am doing that, I am also investing in myself. When someone sits down and says I have money and resources. I can map out 20 years with projects slated to be released. From music, movies, tv-series, books, food products, and more. They will be pleased to know they aren’t starting from scratch. I have been blessed that the people I work with invest in themselves as well.
