We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Joanna Olsen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Joanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the toughest things about entrepreneurship is that there is almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
Owning a business has many challenges & staying resilient and never giving up is Key. We have dealt with natural disasters to closing for 6 months due to COVID.
Uniting the coyote team & rebuilding during these times was key to keep employee spirits high and get through these tough roadblocks.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The movie Coyote Ugly is based on our bars! Our business is female owned with an all female staff called coyotes that do choreographed dances on the bar & Its all about female empowerment.
I’m very proud I have owned my businesses and reached my jubilee of 25 years as an entrepreneur and growing!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
As a female in a male dominated industry maintaining my bars integrity & reaching big milestones such as 5 to 10 to 20 Years open has given me a reputation as an unstoppable force in the industry.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The last hurricane we had in 2018 in Panama City beach was a category 4. I jumped in my car headed straight to the what seemed like a war zone and got my business and community rebuilt with the help of the city & staff.
