JoAnna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Purchasing a ring light, bluetooth remote, various tripods, and a phone mirror mount to help the quality of my content. You don’t need an expensive camera unless that’s something you want. But lighting matters a lot when it comes to making content. Investing in equipment helps so much with the quality.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a Louisiana based Wife & Mother of 3. I first started making content in 2019, I started off making natural hair content because I was transitioning my hair.
Then I started venturing into skincare and makeup products and started making content based on those categories.
I help others by introducing products to them that help with various skin issues. I provide makeup inspiration and live streams I also provide fashion inspiration when I take photos and video as a model and lifestyle products, routines and places I visit. I share links to everything I share as well.
I’m most proud of the quality of my content over the years and the brands I’ve been able to work with and build long term relationships/partnerships.
I want my followers to know that I am thankful for all of the support and I’m happy that I can be an inspiration and helpful resource for them.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspects for me is the conversations and feedback from people when they comment or message me after I post my content. I also just enjoy seeing my content ideas come to life.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I would have liked to know more about reaching out to brands, contract terminology, and monetization.
